Fog Dude Posted August 12 Posted August 12 (edited) Welcome in, it's another bloomin' FPL season! Sign-ups are now closed. Missing a D2D turn incurs a points deduction. The plan is to update this line with the standings throughout the campaign, so here you go. === First half is from the EPL this week, then our scheduled trip abroad is to France. My only personal visit overseas this year has been to Ireland, so I picked an Irish team for my first-choice D2D... except the league in the Republic generally has a full programme exclusively on Friday nights nowadays. It just so happens, though, that on my birthday weekend they've made an exception for one match, so I've chosen that as the game for my initial turn. [I'm not saying I was in Dublin to offer the FAI a bribe, but only because I don't want the forum to get into legal trouble.] We've also reached crucial stages of both the English and Portuguese main knockout competitions. In the former, I was going to include Harrogate Town (second-highest ranked team in at this stage) going to fallen giants Bury but that's been brought forward to lunchtime for TV, so we've got the on-form Glovers' sojourn to Surrey instead, to face a side who've been knocking on the door of the competition proper for a while now. Lastly, there's been an unwelcome change to the format in Portugal this season, since clubs in European competition (so The Big Three + Braga + surprise holders Torreense) all get a bye to the fourth round now. There are still multiple former winners in the Round 3 draw though, plus one ex-champion in the form of Belenenses, so it's still worth featuring. The tie in question involves Rio Ave, from whom English also-rans have been known to poach managers, getting a late holiday to the Algarve as they travel to the city of Loulé. Week 10 fixtures Premier League Brentford v Liverpool Fulham v Hull City Newcastle United v Aston Villa (17:30) Leeds United v Manchester United (Sunday 14:00) Nottingham Forest v Arsenal (Sunday 16:30) FA Cup last qualifying round Leatherhead v Yeovil Town Irish Premier Division Sligo Rovers w/Fog Dude v Dundalk (19:45) Ligue Un Strasbourg v Paris St Germain (16:15) Olympique Lyonnais v Nice (Sunday 19:45) Portuguese Cup Round 3 Louletano v Rio Ave (17:00) All games kick off on Saturday and at 3pm unless stated. Times are given in BST. === FPL Cup group stage matchday 2 To follow later this month. === Week 9 results Premier League Aston Villa 2-2 Brentford Chelsea 5-1 Bournemouth Ipswich Town 2-1 Fulham Sunderland 0-2 Brighton & Hove Albion Manchester United 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur Liverpool 0-3 Manchester City League One Huddersfield Town 2-2 Sheffield Wednesday w/MVP RULZ German Bundesliga Augsburg 2-2 Bayern Munich Mainz 3-4 Bayer Leverkusen Women's international friendly Liechtenstein 3-0 Gibraltar Edited 15 hours ago by Fog Dude Quote

Fog Dude Posted August 14 Author Posted August 14 Among those who signed up, only a few hours for @RoryFice and defending champion @Vegeta to get their inaugural picks in. Not gonna tag anybody else (or make a habit of it on Friday nights) but the same goes for any of the usual suspects thinking about taking part again. Like I mentioned, you can join in as late as Week 6 but any points you fail to get because you don't make your guesses can't be recouped down the line so you'd only be handicapping yourself. Quote

Fog Dude Posted August 19 Author Posted August 19 On 8/15/2026 at 2:37 PM, Vegeta said: It's 14.38 hope that's not too late for my entry Yeah, not to worry, the forum lets me see what time it was when you posted already. Of course you can make guesses for any match that hasn't kicked off yet but do keep in mind that we consider 14:00 on Saturday to be late enough to count as "not lunchtime" with the only exception being Easter when 15:00 on Friday is the cut-off instead (though to be fair, you're not one of the usual suspects who keeps forgetting that year after year). Bent Wookie had the right idea (not that it mattered this time with "Sampi" losing) if you only notice halfway through the weekend that you've missed a pick or accidentally typed one as "q-£" when you meant "1-3" for instance: make a new post rather than editing so that you don't invalidate your existing bets. Anyway, the results went into the opening post on Monday night, and there's obviously still no table but I've got a Plan A, B and C for if I still can't get imgbox to work this time next week. As is traditional for round 1, I'll just describe what the spreadsheet on my hard drive says instead... not much to report since nobody made it into double figures, with TildeGuy the closest on nine points. Vegeta begins the defence of his title in second place with eight, followed by ultimo on six. There are then three players on five points apiece and and two on four each, leaving Gooner in the unfamiliar spot of bringing up the rear with three points. A mere three of the 90 guesses were spot on this time, with Motherwell's shock reverse at Stenhousemuir producing a complete dud outcome, and the scores in exotic Cantabria and Lombardy being good for just a single one-pointer each. The result in Cardiff was too one-sided for anybody to get it exactly, with the topsy-turvy Championship yielding a mixed bag of predictions too. The only solid scorelines were a disastrous pair for the Tayside duo as both were emphatically dumped out of the League Cup. The first of those, match #6 at Pittodrie, was randomly selected as the first "wildcard" fixture of the season so everybody got an extra point apiece, thereby raising the average score up to a still measly 5.4 points. Right, that's enough housekeeping for now. A new set of 10 will appear in the original post in a minute, which has also been updated with the latest number of confirmed and pending entries. Quote
