Foley had been retired for 2 years at that point and this was already a main event from B PPV's in 1998. You'd surely go with Austin v Hogan or Goldberg as the biggest 'name match' you could possibly do before Austin hangs it up like. Quote

The Rhyno vs Kevin Nash one is so fucking funny and out of place. As is Benoit vs Angle in an IRON MAN match on a show that already has about 17 matches. I love stuff like this because at the time Cornette had somehow managed to convince the average smart mark that he was a brilliant booker but then this came out and killed that idea off pretty permanently. Paid Members LaGoosh Posted March 25 Paid Members Posted March 25 (edited) It's interesting to think of what WWF TV would have been like if they hadn't bought WCW and WCW stayed in business. The quality of TV was already on the downturn and the invasion stuff just sped the decrease up. Most the top acts had already worked each other a hundred times at that point so it's hard to work out what they would have done other than go back to the same well. They would have still brought in RVD presumably and that would have freshened up the mid-card. Rhyno and Tajiri were already signed. I don't think there's anyone else they would have brought in from ECW that would have been given a prominent spot. I guess they would have had the Edge and Christian split in the summer shortly after King of The Ring. I don't think any of their OVW guys they had high hopes for (Brock, Orton, Cena, Batista, Shelton) were ready at that point - some of them probably not even signed yet. Heel Austin vs US hero Kurt would still probably have been the main story of the summer with the Jericho heel turn in the Autumn. Hard to think what else they could have done.
