davertfnewman Posted March 1 Posted March 1 (edited) Feel a little bit late to the party, but in response to posts from @DavidB6937, @Joe Blog and @deathrey, I'm a high school English teacher. Got into it in my mid-thirties after a failed attempt in my early twenties and have been doing it, training included, almost a decade now. It's a difficult job, sometimes very exhausting emotionally and psychologically, but also very rewarding. I liken it sometimes to meals you have at a restaurant: you remember the bad ones more distinctly than the good ones sometimes when you shouldn't. It's the epitome of a vocation - you have to want to do it. If you're only half in then you shouldn't continue with it. Happy to chat with anyone about it. As far as dream job, I would love to spend my time looking at and reviewing all the goofy stuff I'm into: cartoons, wrestling, documentaries, TV shows and films, toys, etc. A bit postmodern and with a sense of humour. I do think sometimes about creating a YouTube counterpoint to Billy Moore's channel too, something less against the left and more about showing the good things in our land than the urban wasteland he presents ("Let's take a shot at foreigners while showing that the worst people are of this country."). Members SuperBacon Posted Tuesday at 07:07 PM Author Members Posted Tuesday at 07:07 PM I've decided what it actually is, but it requires a lottery win. Running a massive sanctuary where each and every abandoned cat and dog can come and live their best lives. They'd have their own houses and everything. I follow so many rescue and adoption pages and every appeal makes me so sad. An abandoned pet must be so confused, it breaks my heart to think of them feeling that way. They all deserve the best lives possible and they'd all (and other animals of course) be welcome at Bacon's Rescues. Quote

Every page on social media that pops up with cats and dogs that need new homes, if I had the space I'd take them all. Especially the older ones. We went to the Java Whiskers Cafe in London. They have a kitten side and a cat side with older ones. I'd honestly take the lot. Quote

My partner works in animal welfare so it's a close topic to her. Two of our three dogs are rescues she took on. I absolutely adore them and I dread thinking about what would have become of them. I've had to stop looking at rescues or adoption pages too much because honestly it would be in my head all day and I just can't cope. Really hope you win the lottery now tbh. Quote
