Mine was Godfather & Val Venis being “Supply & Demand.”

When Undertaker and Big Show held the tag titles together for a couple of brief and inessential reigns in 1999, their team name was apparently The Unholy Alliance, which I never once heard them referred to as on WWF programming.

In their first promo together, Paul Bearer called them "an unholy union", and given WWE like to really hammer home nicknames, I expect it's probably that commentary called them "an unholy alliance" or "the unholy alliance of Big Show and The Undertaker" so much that people assumed it was their tag team name, but I don't think they were ever actually billed or announced as that.

Ditto the Demolition Decapitation. Numerous moves never called in favour of Gorilla just saying “There it is!” and the reliable “his/their patented move!”

Think it was a more involved name they gave it on the back of the trading cards, but pretty sure Gorilla or Bobby might've referred it to as "decapitation time" or "a decapitation job".

Nobody in the WWF called a Doomsday Device in LODs first run either, and fairly sure the first time JR called it in 97 he flubbed and called it the “Devastation Device” too.

His Hasbro figure has the name Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat on the packaging, with "Steamboat Springer" action!

Good shout - I never realised that. It was a strange, and unfortunate, time to get hold of Steamboat. With Hart in the middle of singles / first IC title push, Steamboat was pushed out of that title and was never going to get the main belt. Shame we never got a Steamboat/Undertaker match at the time, or had he hung around a Steamboat vs heel Michaels. Problem with 91/92 - the mid-card heel side was pretty dire so it was a complete waste of Steamboat.

I believe one of the reasons Steamboat walked was because he was asked to do the honours to Undertaker and IRS in separate singles matches at a TV after Summerslam.

A bit more than that - they asked him to do stretcher jobs for both. I think his attitude was that doing one for one of them (makes more sense for it to be the Undertaker) was fine, but doing one after another in the same taping would expose things too much. So, they "fired" him. It was obviously just a case of being a dick to him and seeing how much he'd take as part of the game.

Writing him out with the Write-Off.

Also, I'm not sure where the story came from, but it's been suggested that beyond getting his spot on the Survivor Series team, Tito also got the feud with Dibiase that Steamboat was supposed to have. Apparently after Dibiase beat Virgil to get his belt back, it was supposed to be Steamboat coming out to stop the post-match beating. Dibiase was to have flashed the cash at him and Steamer was to blow fire at it and it burn it.

What on earth was IRS going to do to warrant a stretcher job?  An extra long abdominal stretch?

Big old tax bill

This was refuted for ages and when quizzed about it Prichard denied any knowledge but the man himself confirmed to a certain nonce a good few years back that they wanted him to take a stretcher job to IRS and also tape a loss to Taker where he’d get stuffed in a body bag like any old jobber, and when he said no, Vince himself sacked him. Remarkable.

I think Brother Bruce was working for Global around the same time Steamboat was on the outs with the WWF.

With relatively how little they used Steamer at this time, it kinda makes you wonder why they brought him back. Most likely, with that outfit, to make him eat some shit and pretend to enjoy it.

I absolutely love that outfit. It's an it's a forgettable run of matches (though the Dragon, Bulldog, Tornado team from Summerslam '91 is a great trio). It's probably that being my first exposure to Steamboat at all so I think I'm rather fond of it. The fire breathing spot is awesome.
