When a specific genuine effort is made on camera directions for an angle to give it a special moment. Example when Marty Jannetty returns in late 1992 and Shawn Michaels is looking into his mirror (great touch given the last time Marty was seen) that Sherri is holding up. Suddenly Marty appears in the reflection of the mirror which Shawn sells like he's seen a ghost. Then in one shot it pans out to Shawn turning round and he and Jannetty are face to face. Just a brilliant directorial touch.

Colour coordinated teams. 

Razor and Kid in matching purple at In Your House 4 might genuinely have been the highlight of that abortion of a show.

Also thought the Radicalz looked boss when they’d all match up the colours on their clobber in 2000.

Along the same lines were the Allied Powers, a bit of a low point in the careers of Smithers and Lexy and I actually can’t remember them having many matches outside of beating the hairy nazis at WM 11 but the did sync up their gear and their mash-up entrance theme has stuck with me for 30 years so they left their mark. May be one of the best themes of the 90s.

Dibiase doing a flip whenever he missed his middle rope elbow drop or when he got punched in the gut mid jump, being another example. 

Honky Tonk Man also sold atomic drops hilariously.

Rob Van Dam taking DDTs by spiking himself into a headstand was a favourite of mine. Absolutely ridiculous but I always got a kick out of it.

Although, he outdid even that with his hilarious over the top selling of the piledriver at November To Remember 97.

How is that even possible? Doesn’t even look like he pushes off Dreamer’s legs with his arms to boost up. It’s like he’s got springs in his neck or something.

I really like it when a face tag partner makes it obvious they are restricted by the tag rope...no idea why, just extra good guy behaviour. Orton is someone who always manages to make me notice.

Signature bumps are definitely something I'd like to see more of in this day and age - you're more likely to see someone do the Flair flop or the Mr. Perfect bump from a leg kick as a tribute bit than come up with their own.

I think wrestling has become so much more athletic and acrobatic that if somebody can do something impressive, the first instinct is to figure out how to make a move out of it, when sometimes it doesn't need to be that - it could be Rikishi's corkscrew bump off a clothesline, or Sgt. Slaughter taking a corner post like nobody else

Nearest I can think of (and he's nowhere near recent) is R-Truth - problem is he really spams that mid-air spin to the point where he does it when executing leaping moves as well as selling. But it is distinctive to him.

16:20 in, and Savage hits two of his signature Elbow Drops. But been as DDP has the injured ribs, Macho Man lowers the impact point of the elbow to get maximum damage on the ribs. A lovely little touch. Great match all round, Savage was still class in 97. A shame how quickly he turned into the shitty 1999 roided version.

Yeah I feel like 99 Savage gets overlooked in terms of worst presentations/evolutions ever. He was literally in Spider-Man later, I know, but 99 Savage looks exactly like how you'd see a big, dumb, superstar American wrestler presented in film and TV of the era. A big, fake fucker who walks pass all the 8 year olds lining up for an autograph of their hero outside the arena after the show.

Terrible theme tune too, amazing that he was off from late ‘98 and had months to reinvent himself and that’s what he came up with, leather pants and a fit young girlfriend, may as well have had Ross off Friends turn up
