Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 19, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 19, 2024 Quite excited to see Tyson coming in a lot more anger about him. He's usually downplaying everything but he seems bang up for this one. It's also making lean even more heavily on the Team Usyk side. I'm in. Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted December 19, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 19, 2024 I admit I'm starting to highly doubt my earlier call. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 20, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 20, 2024 any other predictions? I'm still saying Usyk stops Fury late, between 9-12. Itauma/McKean - I think this may go long and possibly go the distance. Bookies think this will be a blowout, but McKean's a big step up. May be a fight where the hype is cooled off once it's done, I do think Itauma wins though. Late or points. Fisher/Allen - a massacre, Allen was basically best known for being a guy who could take punishment, but that was a long time ago. Fisher in 2, it might be tough to watch. McGrail/Edwards - no real opinion on this as I don't know much about Edwards. Odds are not massively wide so he's rated. McGrail on points. Bohachuk/Davis - again no real opinion, Bohachuk should be levels above though and has a high KO rate. Davis may see it through though, he's tough. Bohachuk on points. McGregor/Lowe - never really rated Isaac Lowe, he gets these spots off his friendship with Fury. McGregor was tipped for big things but it hasn't really worked out for him, I expect him to get through this though. McGregor on points. Quote
NeverYield Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 I think we have got a fight on our hands here, and Tyson is going to bring it and give Usyk some real questions in there tommorow night. I still fancy Usyk, he will find a way, its just what he does, but allow me to take a seat on the fence here when I say I would not be shocked if Fury wins and looks great doing it. I dunno man, there's just something about the way Fury looks this week, yeah there's been a bit of the usual nonsense but he does look ready to do a job, think it's gonna be a cracker to be fair, and rematches aren't usually as good. Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted December 20, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted December 20, 2024 I’m not sure what to make of it. Fury could definitely win. I was favouring him going into the first fight and he certainly had some success in the fight in the middle rounds, to the point I was starting to lose confidence that Usyk could pull it back. But I’m not sure anger is the answer for Fury here. And that’s all I’m really seeing different. It kind of comes across to me like he’s trying to convince himself or hype himself up for it. I’m not mega confident but I’m fancying Usyk to go 2-0, possibly with a stoppage this time in the late rounds. I think unless Fury gets him out of there in the first half of the fight, I see Usyk holding up better the longer it goes and really pouring it on late. Not gonna be easy to get Fury out of there, it never is, but I think Usyk’s capable of it. Quote
NeverYield Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Yeah there definitely could be an element of trying convince himself, which of course is dangerous if true as we all know you can lie to others but cannot lie to yourself. But I do believe he is ready, or I've been worked severely haha. I do fancy Usyk to go 2-0, if asked for a definitve answer that is it, he is a consummate professional in and out of the ring and just a phenomenal once in a life time talent who forces opponents to fight from all sorts of wacky angles, but anything could happen really, Fury is still an awkwardly great talent. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 20, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 20, 2024 Might have been a spot if gamesmanship going on, Fury wearing a leather jacket and whatnot but he's coming in way bigger. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted December 20, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted December 20, 2024 (edited) Yeah gotta think he’s coming in with the mindset of just overwhelming Usyk with size and/or leaning on him loads if he survives that. Could work, I suppose. It worked against Wilder but the problem is Usyk’s a way better boxer than Wilder could ever dream to be so it’s not gonna be as simple as being bigger meaning he can just bulldoze him. And if it doesn’t work and Usyk’s still there in the second half of the fight, I think Fury’s gonna struggle more carrying extra weight. Interesting though. Like I said, not exactly confident predicting this one either way but I’m hoping Usyk and I’m sticking with him either on points again or a late TKO. Edit - just voted in the poll, surprised to see how one-sided it is in Usyk’s favour actually. Thought it’d probably be about a 50/50 split. Edited December 20, 2024 by wandshogun09 Quote
NeverYield Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Well lads I'm off for a raging Gym session and am going to be turning this fight over in my head like a cement mixer, weird really cos I'm more intrigued than excited for it, but Still won't miss it, the buzz will come as the hours get closer. Tyson needs to be getting that uppercut off ASAP and going to the body Very true wand, how do you overwhelm someone who just does not allow themselves to be overwhelmed, and has such brilliant footwork that controls the positioning of the fight. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 21, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 21, 2024 Just by making it as ugly and messy fight as possible. I dont think it'll be one for the purists as they say. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted December 21, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted December 21, 2024 Still easier said than done against Usyk though and far from as straightforward as it was to do against Wilder. I’m sure the leaning and mauling about is what Fury will be going for more this time but he never had as much success with it as I thought he would whenever he tried it last time. Usyk handled himself just fine from what I remember in those ugly close quarters moments. Fuck knows what happens but a heavier Tyson does at least add a new wrinkle to this rematch. Quote
Kfogg1991 Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Right seriously can someone explain what the situation with boxing events and why they start at 4 but estimate the main fighters will be making their ring walk's at half eleven. The card and line up isn't twenty fights long why is it drawn out and made to feel like your watching the entire lord of the rings movies back to back without stopping. Quote

They have to schedule each fight the allotted time if it went the distance. With big events that could mean a bunch of 12 round title fights and you have to allocate time for not just the actual fight but ringwalks, scorecards being tailed up etc. The problem with boxing as well is half the crowd only turn up for the main event. So if you have had a bunch of early KO's and rattle through the card so the main event goes on 2 hours early you have a half empty arena and a bunch of pissed of fans turning up late. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 21, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 21, 2024 every fight other than the opener is scheduled for 10 or more rounds K-Fogg, and there's 8 of them... so factor in ring walks and post-fight stuff and there's your answer, and like @Cousin Jim Bobthey pretty much work to a set schedule, especially the main event so it don't matter if fights finish early, they will kill time until the ring walks. No denying, it can be a slog. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted December 21, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 21, 2024 I would add that the Saudi's generally like to have a big musical number before the main event, like they've seen the Superbowl halftime show and not understood that it doesn't also apply to boxing.
