Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted December 22, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted December 22, 2024 (edited) @Carbomb True and he could do that but he’s also 37 and when you add in the 350 amateur fights, that’s a lot of miles on the clock. Plus, as much as I’d be interested in seeing him fight all those names you mention (apart from Wilder who’s looking done these days), as well as the rematch with Dubois, right or wrong all of those names are gonna feel like a step down after going 2-0 over Tyson Fury. As great as Usyk still is right now, I don’t wanna see him fight into his 40s and actually start looking old in there. Rather see him do a Lennox Lewis and leave on top with us wanting more. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 22, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 22, 2024 Apparently Usyk has spoken this week about a very real possibility of going back to Cruiserweight. Usyk/Opetaia is something i'd love to see. Quote
NeverYield Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Usyk even mentioned maybe a wildcard fight in the BKFC Clearly joking, but just imagine... Quote

Thinking about that, it’s even crazier what he’s been able to do as a smaller Heavyweight. Usyk vs Opetaia would actually interest me more than most of Usyk’s options at Heavyweight, to be honest. Still rather he rode off into the sunset though. Edited December 22, 2024 by wandshogun09 Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted December 22, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 22, 2024 As much as I'd like to see Usyk come down to fight Opetia what really interests me is Usyk going down to cruiser and Bivol and Beterbiev going up to fight him. I'd take any of those fights over any of the Heavyweight options. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted December 22, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted December 22, 2024 Usyk vs Beterbiev is the one. Inject it directly into my bloodstream. Quote
d-d-d-dAz Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 I don't like where this thread is going. I don't want us to walk Usyk onto something horrendous. He's 37, whether he likes eating or not the cut will be brutal and he just hasn't competed against guys with that speed for a while. If he still wants to go, I'd be happy with a Dubois rematch or a ceremonial defence against some wally but I sort of want to see him wind down now. I love seeing elite fighters leave the game with presence of mind, a full wallet and a belt over the shoulder. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted December 22, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted December 22, 2024 Yeah that’s where I’m at to be honest. While these Cruiserweight fights are fun to think about, I’ve been saying I’d rather Usyk just retire now and that’s what I’m likely gonna settle on when this initial bit of adrenaline from last night’s win wears off. He’s got nothing left to prove. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted December 22, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 22, 2024 You make a fair point Dazzler but Beterbiev is actually older than Usyk. Whatever Usyk does now I'm happy for him. A great boxer but a greater man, I'd miss him but if he wants to go look after his kids then fair play to him. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted December 23, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted December 23, 2024 Even Turki’s saying he agrees with the 116-112 scorecards now. And Fury and Warren will still have to refer to him as “His Excellency” ? Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 24, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 24, 2024 Here's John Fisher having a wee dig at A. Davies. Always nice to see the GAD put on notice. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted December 24, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted December 24, 2024 I’m torn on that and I hate having to kind of see GAD’s point but he’s on the right side of the argument in this one. Obviously I get why Big John is backing his son but there’s actual video of him telling Allen he thought he won immediately after the fight. Maybe he’s gone back and rewatched it and somehow convinced himself his boy did win but if even he thought Allen won in real time, he can’t be kicking off at others for scoring it that way. Can’t stand GAD but Big John talking about people asking him for advice? What advice would that be? Wolfing down dangerous quantities of Chinese takeaway makes you an authority on Boxing now, does it? ”You get back to your dinner and we’ll get on with the interview” I’ve sided with GAD. I’m off to throw up. Quote

I just wanted to share a video of someone having a dig at A. Davies. To be fair Big John does say he's gone back and watched it and had Johnny nicking explaining what rounds he gave him. I may actually go back and score it myself. In a 10 round fight you do have do dominate to really seperate yourself in the scoring, and I think the general feeling is Johnny Fisher won rounds 1-4. So he only needs 2 more to wangle a draw with the knockdown and those last 6 rounds were a mess (but fun) and some were probably awkward to score. Quote
