One thing I also remember from around that time is that he'd do colour commentary on Velocity while Josh Matthews did play by play and while he wasn't an out and out heel he and Matthews would have some pretty funny back and forth sometimes. It felt a lot more relaxed than I'd imagine it would be on Smackdown with Vince in your ear the whole time. Didn't he also have a brief partnership on Smackdown with Foley which was dreadful, or was that Wilson Phillips after Cole got shifted over to Raw? Quote

Was the timeline of the 'we're gonna simulate a real sports draft' and they never told JR he was being switched, just to be pricks to him for being loyal. I don't watch much modern wrestling bar Rumble & Mania so I don't really know what Cole is like now. He was grand with Tazz in 2002, but turned almost unbearable once he started being an obvious proxy for Vince's bullying. His run on Season 1 of NXT where they were so keen on burying Bryan was a bloody disgrace and so counterproductive. Still amazed Bryan got from being mocked for being a vegan to beating big nose and the lads at Mania 30 for the title. Doubt we'll see a better achievement in modern wrestling in all honesty.
