Fog Dude
On 2/3/2024 at 4:57 AM, I Bent My Wookie said: Spent way too much time on this considering I'm already out the cup on head to head record's I think 😅 Eh? When I read that I thought I hadn't put the lines in properly, but the table clearly shows the top 4 in each group going through. Besides, even if I did decide to inject more Stephen Fry Jeopardy into proceedings by making it the top 2 only, you'd still have had a narrow chance because points difference is the first tie-breaker before we take into account head-to-heads. Anyhow, the results were put in the initial post on Monday night, including the Cup scores. Once again there were no draws, with MVP RULZ overtaking Vegeta in Group A to ensure seeding in the knockout phase, while Stinky Dad kept up his 100% record in Group B and ultimo overtook both Chutney Spoon and the absent seph to remain on for the Double as well. The semis will take place during the next men's international break as you'd expect, but as mentioned above we're squeezing in a quarter-final stage later this month so here's the draw for that: Fog Dude vs. Tim Healy's Chutney Spoon MVP RULZ vs. ultimo the great RoryFice vs. Vegeta Stinky Dad vs. I Bent My Wookie Meanwhile over in the main competition Rory, as the only participant into double figures, has suddenly cemented the bronze position – a spot in nosebleed territory by his usual standards. There's now a nine-point gap at the summit, whereas seph is 24 points back if he decides to carry on, or else the Artist Formerly Known as Pete has a 20-point deficit to make up to me and Bent Wookie (yup, that's the short form of Shy's new name, deal with it). The wildcard fixture turned out to be match #10, the huge Dutch clash, which ended up 1-1 with MVP RULZ and Rory both getting it spot on to earn a brace apiece. Elsewhere, Rory also got the exact scoreline from the Scottish Cup tie as everyone else understandably at least managed one point from that. Wins for Brighton, Villa, Man City and Inter Milan all generally proved fruitful alongside a score draw at "the Vitality" (i.e. Dean Court). Improbably higher-scoring draws at Turf Moor and St James's were tougher to guess beforehand, and a rare insipid reverse for Liverpool caught most people out since nobody thought the Gunners would triumph by two clear goals. The next card, featuring yet another D2D, should be up in the first post very soon.
