It's ridiculous. 2 failed tests now! Failed a test in July and thought it was a faulty test from VADA. The most stringent testing you can do. Carried on doing the same regime. Then failed another in September. That's a bit weird isn't it.

The amount of excuses coming out from Team Benn/Hearn is piss poor. It's only traces though, so it's alright. Must have been cross contamination with all the eggs he's eaten to bulk up. Eddie's looked in Conor's eyes and he's been a mate for 7 years. So he knows he hasn't been doping. Someone could have spiked his drinks in the gym. It's in the hands of the lawyers. We've got the best scientists on this. I'm never boxing in UK again under BBBoC, etc, etc.

Thought I might as well bump this seeing as they’re finally getting around to this fight next month.

Not gonna bother redoing the opening post because sod it. Interesting reading back through this thread now though. I was a lot more positive than I remember on the first go around of this. Not so arsed about the fight now but I’m not gonna pretend I won’t watch and the buildup has amused me so far.

FATAL FURY!

The build up will be exciting. Like I said in the other thread Senior spent a whole interview after the McKenna v Harlem Eubank fight pissing all over Junior v Eggs. Benn just needs to make sure he has cycled off the juice in time, because there is no way he is not still on something.

Chris is playing a blinder. To be fair, Connor doesn't seem to be a guy that's difficult to wind up but he's doing a grand job.

Eubank Jr should win comfortably if he is able to come in and not kill himself by weighing no more then 170lbs on the morning of the fight. If one has to win then I hope it is him, I caught some of the press conferences and he owned the Benn's, Hearn all by himself easily. Nigel Benn didn't cover himself in glory, bringing up being a born again Christian like usual(good for him and I'm proud of it) but bringing it up, 20 minutes later having his hands around Eubank Jr throat after the egg slap and then apologising the next day(which was right) but saying it was because he thought his son got glassed(even though he was right there looking at it) I can't quite believe but then for Conor Benn to bring up Eubank Snr couldn't be made for any money to sit next to his own son and Nigel Benn to chime in with "yeah"  doesn't make him come across well at all and probably for the best that Senior wasn't there as if he was and saw Nigel Benn do that to his son, who knows what may have happened in that moment. All I was hearing is over 130,000, on the list, biggest fight this year, one of the biggest ever in British history,  but I have few friends who were looking to buy tickets and apparently loads still available. I expect it will sell out come fight night as loads of causal fans seem to be all over it. I don't get the appeal of the fight myself, but the fact it is a lot bigger now then two and a half years ago because one fighter out of the two failed not one, but two drug tests and still to this day hasn't explained how the stuff got into his system and now he is going to earn a fortune from it doesn't sit well with me.

He gave the WBC a 270 page report and in it he made no defence that he failed positive tests were caused by contaminated eggs. After a lengthy investigation through the WBC,  they ruled most likely that egg contamination was the likely cause of the failed tests. The BBBofC were not apart of the WBC review.  He relinquished his licence with the BBBofC after the failed Eubank fight first time around.

He has never proven how clomiphene  got into his system and that's why the thing has been going on for ages. The argument is he passed some tests and spent loads on legal fees so that means he can't be guilty.  You can pass any tests in the world but when you pop dirty twice you have to prove exactly why you failed those tests with concrete evidence and if you can't you have to get banned.

Obviously everyone will have their own opinions on whether they believe he did it on purpose or whether it was purely accidental.

I favour Eubank despite him appearing to be on the back of his career. I'm not sure if Benn's supposed drug use is responsible but the fight ending power appears to have dried up since the ban. If he was coming into this fight off the back of the Algieri/Van Heerden wins (who granted, were both past it) I might think differently. I think Eubank weathers a storm quite comfortably and stops Benn late.

Sounds like a spot on prediction of their old men’s first fight in 1990!

Had that interview they did with Piers Morgan on in the background earlier. A clear attempt to recreate their dad’s televised contract signing before the first fight but I’ll take it. I do like a head-to-head interview before fights. The Gloves Are Off ones were usually fun and the yanks did it for years on HBO and stuff. Wish it was basically anyone but Piers Morgan hosting it though. Can’t stand the clammy faced cretin. Few takeaways

‱ Eubank saying Benn had PEDs in his system and Benn just going ‘Maybe, maybe not. Nothing to do with you’ or something like that killed me. He does himself no favours does he? Thick as wallpaper paste.

‱ Not a fan of Piers - in general - but especially him trying to dig into Eubank and his old man’s relationship. It’s common knowledge they’ve had their issues but it’s none of our fucking business, is it? And say what you want about Jr and Sr and their antics, that family’s been through a lot the last few years with Jr losing a younger brother and Sr losing a son. Whatever the rift is, hopefully they get it sorted but it’s got nothing to do with this fight. Doesn’t surprise me to see Morgan going that route but it’s not relevant to anything as far as this fight goes. Has no bearing on the hype or anything. Anyone on the fence about buying this fight isn’t gonna go ‘Oooh hang on, Eubank and his dad haven’t sent each other Christmas cards for 3 years? Why did nobody tell me this sooner? I’m gonna have to order this fight’.

‱ Loved the bit when Piers mentions Eubank being bigger physically, Conor’s giving it the old “He’s just a man. I’m not afraid of no man” and Eubank immediately hit him with the “So why did you try to force this rehydration clause?” Conor had no answer for that other than “
I ain’t talking to you!” ? Also, for all his bravado and bluster, using PEDs to get an edge doesn’t exactly paint the picture of a fighter who’s genuinely confident. You take that shit because you’re not sure you can do it naturally.

‱ Seems like all Eubank has to do on the night is keep mentioning old Nigel and Conor’s gonna completely emotionally unravel. I’m all for sticking up for your family but what’s with him throwing a tantrum any time Eubank even mentions Nigel? He’s been trotting out the “Your own dad don’t even like you” but the cheek of Eubank to utter a word about the man who grabbed him by the throat at the press conference. Conor’s such a baby. Proper school bully mentality. Talking about “Let’s meet outside then. Let’s have it on the cobbles”. Once again, thick as mince. Why would you jeopardise the biggest payday you’ll ever have in your mediocre career by scrapping for free on the pavement outside some studio? Wally.

‱ Then Conor starts a hypothetical argument about stuff that hasn’t even happened. “I swear if he put his hands on my son he wouldn’t be living”. What the fuck?

‱ Piers was clearly biased towards Benn, going easy on him for the PED stuff and glossing over it but constantly pulling Eubank up on minor things.

Yeah, hope Eubank absolutely obliterates him.
