Humble Bundle are great. I don't have the resources to play the PC games anymore (at least until I get the desktop PC set up), but their comic bundles are ridiculous value. I remember when they used to do bundles of Android games. They used to be fun.

Gravity Circuit is currently free on Steam to celebrate its sequel.

If you’ve never heard of it, it’s one of the best Megaman clones out there, it’s just tremendous fun and its overwhelmingly positive review score on Steam is very well deserved.

It costs nothing, so there’s no risk to downloading it whatsoever and I’d highly recommend you do, it’s tremendous fun.

I haven't done one of these for a while, so before the Steam Summer Sale wraps up on the 9th, I thought I'd share some of my recommendations: 

Chained Echoes (£9.99, was £24.99 - 60% off)

This is a steal for one of the best JRPG-style games I've ever played. I completed it this year after sitting on it for a while, and I can't speak positively enough about it. You have a giant world to explore, you can fly around in mechs, there's a compelling story, sidequests, secrets and a turn-based battle system that is just plain fun and unique. Without going into too much detail, the story is about war and the discovery of a weapon that is, in effect, the game's equivalent of a nuclear bomb. For £9.99, this is incredible value - but given the quality of the game, even the original price was great value. This is worth your time and money - trust me on that. 

Beyond Words (£9.74, was £12.99 - 25% off)

An easy one to sum up, this - Scrabble crossed with Balatro. If that sounds appealing to you, you'll love this game. I sank dozens of hours into it and continue to do so on a near daily basis. It's stupidly addictive. 

Polyroll (£2.49, was £4.99 - 50% off)

Another one that is easy to sum up - a Sonic the Hedgehog clone, and a very good one at that. I blitzed through the game and enjoyed every second of it. For £2.49, you're getting a level of quality that you don't often see with games that try to adapt the Sonic formula - if you enjoy the classic Mega Drive Sonic games, I can't see you disliking this. 

Watch_Dogs 2 (£2.49, was £49.99 - 95% off)

I usually use my recommendations to highlight indie games I like, but this is too good a deal to ignore. Watch_Dogs 2 wasn't exactly beloved upon release, but it's a very enjoyable Ubisoft-style open world game, and the hacking mechanic is a lot of fun. The game feels even more relevant in 2026, and for the price, you're getting a level of quality and ambition that more than merits a look-in. It's a game that has been forgotten slightly, and that does seem a little unfair. 

Kingdoms of the Dump (£12.56, was £16.75 - 25% off)

Another 16-bit style JRPG, and it's a really fun and charming one. Even the story behind it is - it was developed by two real-life janitors. The level of polish here is quite something - the art is beautiful, the story is solid and the general gameplay is a lot of fun. Like Chained Echoes, it's one of the best JRPG-style games to have been released in recent memory, and it's well worth a pick-up. It's been reviewed fantastically for very good reason. 

Bionic Bay (£4.18, was £16.99 - 75% off)

I'm going to make a bold claim here - I think this is one of the best looking games ever made. It's all pixel art, and at times you wouldn't believe that. It's astonishingly beautiful and must have taken an incredibly long time to create. The game - an action puzzle-platformer - is unique, atmospheric and clever and very, very enjoyable. I've no idea how or why, but in spite of stellar reviews and in spite of being absolutely gorgeous, it's somehow slipped under the radar. It's a bit like Limbo or Inside crossed with Portal or Mirror's Edge and it can be very challenging, but checkpoints are generous so it never becomes frustrating. I really love this game, and I would definitely recommend.

Moonlighter 2 is out soon, and the first one is currently free on Steam. Visit dungeons at night to collect materials from enemies, sell whatever you bring back in your shop during the day. The money you make can then be spent on improving your shop and the rest of the town, as well as buying recipes to craft better gear that helps you get further into the dungeons. Supremely addictive if you like that sort of thing!

Dakar 18 is £2.99 on XBox at the moment. There are two free expansion maps, but the actual game itself is set in a 2000 square mile patch of South American desert where the Dakar is run nowadays, covering areas of Peru and Argentina. I doubt it's geographically accurate, there's also a single car DLC for £1.50. Great concept for a game. You get to pick from one of the five categories of vehicle (motorbike, quad, car, Side by Side dune buggy, or truck) and drive the Dakar with your co-driver, unless you're on a quad/motorbike in which case you're on your own. There's no in game map so you have to find your way using the race book, although if you're playing on certain difficulty levels there's also a little icon on your HUD that you can aim for. There could also be parts where you have to leave your vehicle and dig it out of sand or mud, other cars may get stranded and you get a choice to rescue them. I think it was a little too ambitious for XBox One which it released on, but maybe if they tried again on current gen stuff they'd be able to refine it. If you enjoy driving games and have a couple of quid spare it may be worth a look as something a bit different. You can use your simracing setup, but it might make things a bit awkward for the out of vehicle stuff. There's also split screen and online multiplayer, although I can't imagine online is that well populated nowadays.

Curiously the entire series is on a mega sale on Steam and it happened right on the anniversary of Charlie Kirk getting sniped...
