It would appear so from what I’m reading online, social media etc. Apparently Joanna has zero chance and not only is Zhang going to win, she’ll do it with ease. If you think otherwise, even if you just think it’ll be competitive, you’re crazy. I mean, I’m a fan of Zhang. She’s likeable and she’s clearly a handful in the cage. But the jury is still kind of out on her at the top level for me. Might sound mad considering she’s the champion but we’ve seen the grand total of 42 seconds of her against top opposition. And Andrade came right at her. It was a huge win, a dazzling finish and a tremendous achievement becoming the first Chinese UFC champ. But it was 42 seconds and Andrade played right into her hands. Before that, Zhang’s best win was a decision over Tecia Torres. Zhang clearly won but it wasn’t the best of fights. I’m not even saying Joanna wins. I’m not sure one way or the other. But I really don’t get why it seems to be considered mental to think Zhang might have a tougher time blitzing Joanna than she did Andrade. If Tecia Torres went 15 minutes with Zhang in March 2019, I don’t think it’s outrageous to think Joanna Jedrzejczyk can go 25 with her in March 2020. People used to bang on about Ronda Rousey being overhyped but based on one fight, which lasted 42 seconds, everyone’s on the Zhangwagon and acting like she’s unbeatable. It’s a bit weird. Again, I really like her and I really rate her as a fighter. But Christ. And the worst thing is, you just know when she does lose a fight the same divs will be rushing to her Twitter and Instagram to tell her where she went wrong and what she needs to change.
