To be honest, I was surprised at how many positive reactions I got to a homemade Chippy Tea from Aldi.

Thunderplex is correct about the sauce. I'm pretty sure all Chippies/Chinese takeaways up and down the country use it.

This and the 'not so hot' version are absolutely recommended. Get them from B&M.

I use the mild a lot, it’s lovely over a pile of crisp oven chips done in the airfryer.  I add a pinch of MSG and a teaspoon of Jimmys Satay sauce to it.  Spiffing.

Medium is absolutely the sweet spot and most likely what the Chippies are using. Only got the extra hot to try it but will revert back. Still good eats though. Chippy Tea approved.

Got recommended a little place by forum veteran @Bus Surferthis morning as I was working close to where he resides, so I got myself down there for lunch:

Large chips, jumbo sausage and a bread roll.

Lovely lunch, the highlight was clearly the sausage, just look at the thing. I left a few chips but managed to get the whole sausage down me. Needless to say, I didn't get much work done this afternoon.

I may go back later in the week for a battered jumbo.

Cheers Bus.
