Paid Members Egg Shen Posted January 25, 2020 Author Paid Members Share Posted January 25, 2020 on the subject of this card, the Raymond Daniels fight has been moved to the main card in place of Danis. The fight which may be a headscratcher to anyone taking a main card place over Aaron Pico's fight is a female fight between Ave Knight and Emilee King. Ava Knight is a 19-2 pro boxer and current WBC Champion, and its a hometown card for her, shes 1-0 in MMA.
jimufctna24
Why not keep this thread for the smaller shows + news. And give the bigger shows and double headers their own thread?
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted January 25, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted January 25, 2020 I’m all for separate threads for shows that warrant it. Agree with what David said about a lot of Bellator convo getting lost in the shuffle here. Separate threads should make it easier to follow and might actually encourage a bit more discussion. I know for me, a lot of times I don’t even check this thread so I’m sure I’ve missed some great fights due to that. Whereas if a show has its own thread, less good fights will get lost in the megathread. But yeah, I won’t be doing them though. For one, I’m not familiar enough Bellator’s roster overall. I did start separate threads for a couple of shows over the last year or so like MVP vs Daley and that show that ended up getting main evented by Peppa Pig. But it’d be nice to see some more. Doesn’t have to be some long winded bollocks like I do. Something like David’s done for this show is fine and sets the table nicely for some discussion. We should probably keep all spoilers for this show in the separate thread though, right?

He’s 4-3 and coming off 2 knockout losses. It’ll probably do him good if they scale him back rather than keep treating him like he’s something special and whacking him on main cards. He’s still young but he’s got some work to do if he wants to claw things back. I don’t know this Ava Knight but if she’s a WBC Boxing champ then that alone makes her more worthy of a main card spot than a guy who’s 4-3. I don’t really get why anyone would really be scratching their head at that. Just because he was one of Bellator’s ‘chosen ones’ shouldn’t mean he’s guaranteed to be on the main card for life. Sounds harsh but he hasn’t exactly held up his end of the bargain.

Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted January 25, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted January 25, 2020 He didn’t come in as that though. He was never being hyped as the next Arturo Gatti. They seemed to be expecting him to be MMA’s version of Floyd Mayweather or Canelo Alvarez. They were trying to sell us on him being the next big thing, future world champ and face of MMA and all that shite. He’s 4-3 and been finished 3 times. He definitely hasn’t delivered what they wanted out of him. It is exciting watching him but there’s going to be a limit to that. If he continues how he’s going he’ll probably be something like 12-10 in a few years with 7 knockout losses. “Our Lebron James”.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted January 25, 2020 Author Paid Members Share Posted January 25, 2020 i dont disagree, but if Pico's fighting im tuning in. Same reason i always tuned in when Phil Baroni was in the cage. ...i do think Pico goes on to have a better career that Baroni though 😄

jimufctna24
It's a great fight. Bader is a much improved fighter in recent years. He has broadened his striking game, improved his fight IQ, and is every bit as good a wrestler as he was in the UFC. Nemkov, meanwhile, has also upped his game in recent times. The Nemkov that fought in Rizin would have never outlasted Phil Davis over 15 minutes. He had very questionable cardio back in those days, and it cost him against Jiri and Albrektsson. I'm picking Bader because he is the more proven of the two. But I would not be surprised at all if Nemkov upset the odds. jimufctna24
Cliff notes: - He had a brain scan before the Mousasi fight. It was discovered he had cavernoma (cluster of abnormal blood vessels found in the brain). - Most of the doctors he consulted with in Brazil advised him not to fight. - The final doctor he consulted with, who was also the most experienced, supported him fighting. - Despite having said doctor's approval, Bellator told him it was 50/50 that the medical panel would approve him to fight. He eventually got approved to fight 2 weeks before the fight. - Says that Mousasi's camp acted disrespectfully towards him in the build up. Yelling that he was a "dead man walking" at the press conference. - He says that Mousasi himself was actually respectful in the build up, but that the steroid allegations Mousasi made afterwards bothered him. - The rematch was initially set for last weekend's show in LA. However, an Irish doctor continued monitoring his brain scans and told Lovato in November that the panel had made a mistake by approving him to fight Mousasi in June. The Irish doctor told him that he would not be approved to fight in Europe again. - He immediately sought further opinions and found a specialist doctor in California who told him that the of the risk of the cavernoma causing him a brain haemorrhage was less than 1%. However, in mid-November, the California commission said they would refuse to approve him to fight given his condition. The rematch was subsequently cancelled. - Therefore, Lovato is sidelined indefinitely. The specialist doctors say he is safe to fight with the cavernoma, but will not operate to alleviate it in its worst area until he starts showing certain symptoms. Whereas it is questionable whether doctors associated with the athletic commissions will approve him while he has cavernoma, even if it is alleviated somewhat. There is seemingly no cure for cavernoma. - Says that Bellator have been very understanding and have treated him well.
