Brock Goldberg
Not so much Super Sage just yet. Â Tbh last night's event passed me by, how many shows do UFC put out these days? Â Couldn't sleep so I browse fb and see the Northcutt result. Â Wow, so much hate for this guy and joy that he's lost. Do we just throw blame at the door of Dana and the UFC? He seems to have been hyped up like you wouldn't believe but shit happens. Â This defeat could be a massive blessing in the long run, it's a wake up call and a good learning experience for someone so young.
d-d-d-dAz
First of all, fucking LOLBader. Boring shitarse. Get to the back of the queue you prick. Â Second, Sage looked like a newcomer on his back. Plenty of time to learn. Â The most important thing that happened all night was that Conor/RDA promo. It had a real Rock/Austin 'My Way' THIS-SHIT-MATTERS kind of vibe about it.
Paid Members lambyUK Posted January 31, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted January 31, 2016 The reactions from fighters have been disgusting to me for Sage's loss. In particular Tony Ferguson proving he's an arsehole. Â This is a 19 year old boy just starting his career, and irrespective of the coverage he's been given, is still learning his craft. The joy they are getting is pathetic really.
dopper
Tony Ferguson proved he was an arsehole that drunken night in the TUF house. Â Today he is just reminding us he's an arsehole.
d-d-d-dAz
MMAJunkie have kindly compiled all the 'bitter pro fighters being arseholes' reactions to Sage here; http://mmajunkie.com/2016/01/fighter-reactions-to-sage-northcutts-ufc-on-fox-18-loss-were-harsh-to-say-the-least  Thing is, the choke wasn't on. Not really. Barbarella was on the wrong side and just prior to tapping out Sage moved his head and you could see room around his neck. That said, he knew he was in a world of shit on his back and knew he was likely to get tapped by that choke, as Bah-Bah-blacksheep was more than likely going to advance his position. I think he just thought 'fuck it, live to fight another day.'  It looks shit, but it's not the end of the world. He's only 19 and he's got a world of potential. Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted January 31, 2016 Author Paid Members Share Posted January 31, 2016 The reaction from some fighters to the Northcutt loss really is pathetic. Mostly the usual suspects with the harshest comments. Not surprised in the slightest to see Angela Magana piping up. Horrible little Vinegar Tits cunt that she is. Â The choke wasn't properly on. He tapped prematurely. It was a pure panic tap. That's just down to inexperience in grappling. All these lot know that. It'll have happened to them in the gym a bunch of times when they were starting out. The worst thing is, Sage has come across as nothing but a nice kid, awkward but a good kid. It's not his fault he was thrust into the position he was and the UFC saw money in him and got behind him. Jealousy is an ugly trait. That's all this revelling is about from most of the names celebrating his loss. Pure sour grapes that he was getting some hype that he 'didn't deserve'. Fuck that. I actually feel sorry for him. He's already going to feel like shit after having his first career loss, now he's got a load of cunts (grown men and women) rubbing his nose in it. Â It wasn't even the most shocking submission of the night either. Ben cunting Rothwell took that honour. My jaw actually dropped seeing him tap out Josh Barnett. No-one would've called that one. I never thought I'd be saying this but, sod it, Ben Rothwell deserves a title shot. I wouldn't give him the next shot, too much to sort out with Werdum, Cain, Miocic and Overeem right now. But Rothwell deserves all the credit that should be coming his way today. Who'd ever have predicted a couple of years ago that Rothwell would be in this position, on a streak, with a KO over Overeem and a submission over Barnett?! Craziness. Â Chuffed that Bader is out of the title mix now. Chuffed. I had absolutely no interest in seeing him headlining a PPV. I'm sure he's a nice enough guy, but Jesus he's dull. Stick him back on the prelims where he belongs. Fuck knows where Rumble goes now though. What's Glover doing? That'd be fun.
d-d-d-dAz
Can you imagine how unbearable the self-appointed social media gatekeepers of MMA will be if (when?) CM Punk gets his head removed from his shoulders?
seanz25
The reaction to Northcutt's loss, all considering his age, how respectful he's been of everyone in the company, is pathetic to say the least. Maybe some Fighters need to wake up and realise that the sport depends on guys like him in the future. Barberena also mocking Sages celebration came across as pretty tasteless to me and left me feeling he was just a massive cunt with his over the top yelling of beating a kid... Brock Goldberg
Pure jealousy on show from grown men and women who should know better. Â Something tells me Northcutt will have the last laugh though. Â At 19 he's just starting out, he will learn, mature, develop and continue to improve. Yakashi
It's just jealousy, as stated by Wand. Middling fighters that think they're world beaters and would be champions "if only I didn't get hit with a lucky punch those six times I lost". It's like when Punk moaned about Rock at Wrestlemania. Â UFC is a business. They pay more money to stars than to average fighters with no marketability. They're not idiots. It's the reason Bader never got his title shot or why they were so happy to get rid of Jon Fitch. I'm sure they would absolutely love someone, anyone, to beat Mighty Mouse as long as they've got a bit of personality. Â All these guys on Twitter would have said they would have beaten Connor as well. In fact, I'm sure the Mendes and Aldo fights don't count. Mendes was late notice and a seven second KO is just lucky. They'd all beat Connor. Yeah.
pryko
I dunno about this ya know. Â He obviously quit that fight way too early, which is what these other fighters are saying, and if he's getting paid as much as one of those tweets say he is already, then I can see why some of these guys are having a go and would want to stake a claim that he is all hype after that. Â On the other hand though, fuck Tony Ferguson.
jimufctna24
I find it easy to excuse Northcutt.  Not only is he still a teenager, but he's also relatively new to the game. With that in mind, rookie mistakes and freezing in the moment can easily be forgiven. In general, fighters should be hoping that Northcutt thrives inside the cage, and becomes one of the UFC top stars. The more marketable drawing cards the UFC has at its disposal, the better it is for all involved.  I'm not saying that fighters should be leaping to his defence on Twitter, but some of those reactions are daft to say the least, and as others have said, they are clearly inspired by jealously.  Edit: I'm chuffed Bader lost. He's the black-hole of entertainment.
Paid Members Carbomb Posted January 31, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted January 31, 2016 I like how some have already weighed in on Magana's "I want 40k for a scaredy tap #northcut" telling her she should probably win a match first.
pryko
Yeah, just to be clear, my post isn't a knock on Sage. Â But he is now obviously not a finished article. Â That loss will do him a world of good, because he can see where his weak points are now, and work on them. Â Some of those messages are way over the top, but some of the are understandable in my opinion. Â I look it from my own perspective in my own job. Â I see people come along who talk a big game, and the bosses listen and think they're God's Gift, pay the big wages, and then when push comes to shove, they suck at their job, and us getting paid less are the ones picking up the slack. Â In Sage's case, he obviously doesn't suck, but he's not at a very decent UFC level yet
jimufctna24
From what I've seen, Sage doesn't really talk a big game.  For his experience level and standard of opponents, Sage is doing a decent job. If he was a fighter buried on the prelims, people wouldn't be complaining. I don't have a problem with his position on the card or his wages. It's the fight business. The worth of a fighter is not confined to their ability inside the cage. It extends to how much interest they draw from the masses.  Din Thomas's Tweet was reasonable. It's probable that top-flight coaches can spot the flaws in Sage's game. The loss will help him and his trainers re-adjust.
