The Monday Night War timeline continues to be fucking brilliant. Such an interesting period and like Old Man Jones, I was also surprised by Nitros ratings because although I knew they were still strong throughout 1998 and into 1999, I also thought Raw won handily from May to Ric Flair's return. That the brilliant go home show for SummerSlam 1998 actually lost the night leaves me incredulous. Goldberg's numbers are remarkable and just make it even more obvious how absolutely motherfucking braindead WCW were to never go back to him after Starrcade. I think it was too early for him to lose but I'm not completely against it. However, it should have been a blip he overcame, not what they made it. The beginning of the end. Meng getting a push after drawing a great number with Goldberg made me LOL but I fucking loved Meng so I don't mind. Liked the guys pointing out the coverage on TV of Mark McGuire and Goldberg. I've seen that before and thought it odd that Bobby Heenan claimed WCW never did anything with it. Really enjoyed the other two shows since the timeline. Most useless stable or tag team was a bunch of fun, although I still think it should have been two separate shows. Glad I waited to hear Butchi's rant on the Harris Boys. It was absolute gold. Glad I don't have to buy Karl's beer for a month either. Title reigns that should have been was really good. I've also listened to "The wrong guy went over" from the archives recently though and there was a lot of similar thoughts. Still don't think Owen should have been "Backlunded". He was too good for that.
cobra_gordo Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Listening to the Jericho/ Matt Hardy at work. I'm only a couple of minutes in and I'm trying not to burst out laughing. Kudos to him for keeping the gimmick going, he's one of the best things about wrestling at the moment. Edit: 12 minutes in and he's just done the Mick Mahan/ Subterranean Lucha line. Credit to Jericho for not being in fits of laughter.

Paid Members Egg Shen Posted August 10, 2016 Paid Members Posted August 10, 2016 dunno if it'll interest anyone here, but Damien Abraham (lead singer of Fucked Up) who has a successful punk music podcast (Turned Out a Punk) now has a wrestling off-shoot called It's Clobbering Time. It's pretty much going to bring in musicians to talk wrestling, they've done an intro episodes but going forward each episode is going to have a guest, interested to see how it goes --- It's on stitcher/audioboom, all that sort of shit.
Ambulance Chaser Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Listened to Braun Strowman on Austin's podcast last night, fair play to the guy, came across well I thought, very easy listen, clearly he is an athletic freak, didn't know much about him and his strongman stuff but he sounds a top bloke.

Ugh, love Damian and Fucked Up, but don't really want to hear him keeping kissing someones ass for 2 hours which is what he usually does with his guests on TOAP.

Cant imagine it'll appeal to everyone but it sounds like the kind of thing i could listen too. odds on Lars Fredriksen being the first guest?

Using the analogy "do you want to see someone do 12 seconds or 9 seconds in the 100 metre dash", "you want to see records broken".
