A coach trip had two highlights: playing on the motorway during a rest stop (North Korean citizens aren't allowed to drive on it) and the tourists filling in a massive pothole themselves because the guides couldn't do anything about it as that would acknowledge the road had an imperfection, which obviously The Glorious Leader wouldn't have permitted. Paid Members LaGoosh Posted December 20, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted December 20, 2011 Anyone interested in North Korea should read "Nothing To Envy" by Barbara Demick. Â http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nothing-Envy-Lives...2671&sr=1-1 Â It's an absolutely fascinating look at the insane world of North Korea. It's like a real life 1984 except pretty much everyone is starving to death. I highly highly recommend it.
Registration_Form
You'd have thought that given his string of remarkable (cynics might say unbelievable) feats, that weather-controlling, opera-writing golf prodigy Kim Jong-il would have yawned off a little heart attack. Fucking pussy.
patiirc
Every time I see this thread I keep thinking about The Last Starfighter, when one of the bad guys keeps going on about The Last Starfigher is Dead.. despite him not being so. Paid Members JNLister Posted December 21, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted December 21, 2011 Forgot another gem from touring North Korea. Apparently the floor of the room where Kim-Il Sung's remains are kept has clear gems embedded in the ground. Visitors are told (in a straight, literal, non-metaphorical fashion) that these were created when the tears of the people fell to the ground and crystallised. Paid Members SpursRiot2012 Posted December 22, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted December 22, 2011 Strange natural phenomena have been witnessed in North Korea since the death of the country's leader Kim Jong-il, the state news agency KCNA reports. Â Ice cracked on a famous lake "so loud, it seemed to shake the Heavens and the Earth", and a mysterious glow was seen on a revered mountain top, KCNA said. Â BBC.
