No worries, just wasn't sure in which direction to go with a reply.

I've posted this a couple of times on the forum, but I love

version of Let It Be from the Across the Universe film. The context in which it appears within the film makes it all the better.

Will possibly think of a few more later although I'm a fussy bastard when it comes to people covering The Beatles.

I'd probably go for that as well, but I'll give a mention to

Healey was an amazing guitarist.

Was reading an interview with McCartney just the other day that asked this very question, I think he went for Ray Charles' version of 'Eleanor Rigby'.

HEADS UP!

Living In The Material World is to be broadcast on BBC2 this weekend. Part 1 is on at 9.45 on Saturday night, with part 2 on at 9 on Sunday night.

Sky Plus set, cheers for the heads up. I heard a couple of the guys from The Bootleg Beatles on the radio earlier, seemed pretty damn good. Anyone seen them?

Yep. They're the best of all the tribute bands I've seen. Until I'd seen them, I had about three or four others who I thought were either great or very good (in particular an Argentinian band who've played the Cavern called NUBE 9), but after seeing the Bootlegs they're all light years behind. It's not just the singing voices, it's the mannerisms and playing styles which are spot on. I'd recommend watching them if you get the chance.

Glad the Harrison documentary is on telly at the weekend, too. I've seen it but since then my DVD has been doing the rounds amongst friends and family so it'll be good to have it on my Sky Plus as back up.

Watching the first half of the documentary now. It's superb.

And The Beatles were transcendentally talented bastards, weren't they... Paul's just told the story of George coming up with the riff for 'And I Love Her' during the recording session for it... something as iconic, as wonderful as that, off the top of his head ... argh! It's remarkable, I think.

EDIT: ARGH! Recording cut off during 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'! Good thing the programme is also on iPlayer.

I thought part 1 last night was pretty average. Far too much time was spent recapping The Beatles; I wouldn't have minded so much if it was all about George's role within The Beatles, but i wasn't. Also, alot of the anecdotes we have heard a million time before. Does George Martin really need to repeat for the millionth time the "I don't like your tie" story again? He even mentioned it at the fucking Queen's bash at Buckingham Palace in 2002. The Big Train

is more apt than ever.

The White Album is synonymous with early morning loneliness to me. I remember first listening to it through my earphones whilst eating cereal and gawping at Facebook and UKFF some 4 years ago. Yer Blues, despite being like a parody, seemed to suit pretty well at the time. That may have been a little melodramatic but it got me in the mood.

I also remember my 18th birthday where the pub happened to be playing The White Album. When Birthday came on, I was over the moon.

Excellent, I've bought some tickets for the Hammersmith show.

I'm in one of those moods where I listen to 'All You Need Is Love' and start thinking "THEY'RE FUCKING RIGHT YOU KNOW!" Anyone else ever get that?

 Worryingly, quite a lot!

I remember when I was travelling the States a few years ago and for 3 months, my best friend was my iPod. I listened to all kinds but rarely went a couple of days without sticking The Beatles on. One day in Vegas, after going to the Grand Canyon for a trip, I went to watch the Cirque du Soleil 'Love' show and it ended what was one of the best days of my life. I remember walking down the strip, half pissed, with All You Need Is Love on a loop, with the most fantastic grin on my face whilst just thinking exactly what you said: 'they're fucking right!'. A few hours later, I was shitfaced in a Casino and won a few quid. On the walk home, I had the same song on a loop (this time with me doing the drunken mumbling, singing thing) and I found myself outside a tattoo parlour. I walked in and told them to tattoo All You Need Is Love on my inner forearm, to which I received a polite 'fuck off and come back if you still want it when you're sober'. I may have come across the only man in Vegas with common sense.

Aside from then, when the song became so infectious it nearly branded me for life, I often get in one of those moods where no matter what's going on in my life, it all seems to be irrelevant when you have that mantra in your head. Referring back to the Cirque Love show, I adore the end of the version of AYNIL from that soundtrack with Lennon's little sign-off. Always makes me smile.
