Daaaaaad!
Ched Evans has been named in the League 1 team of the season. Like all of the PFA awards, it was voted on in March. It must've been a nightmare for the organisers to decide what to do with that.
mikey
Lease was fine. The Ricoh was essentially the act of a desperate gambler going all in, despite not having the greatest hand. It was part of a 'three pronged strategy' that we, rather embarrassingly, called 'OPERATION PREMIERSHIP'.  Hilariously, the club issued a grovelling apology after the game saying the club would undergo a review where nothing was sacred. They said that whilst fans have questioned not just the ownership but the performance of the manager, Andy Thorn's role would just be part of a wider, robust structural review of the club. Literally half an hour later the club issued a statement saying Andy Thorn had been asked to continue in his role next year.  I don't mind Andy Thorn, but that's hilarious.  Cov have been moving in ever-decreasing circles for years now. Good managerial appointments made bad by a lack of money and bad managerial appointments made disastrous for the same reason. There was potential there with a young squad led by Eric Black but it has been blown. This season was essentially destroyed when Jutkiewicz was sold to Middlesbrough. Paid Members tiger_rick Posted April 23, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted April 23, 2012 Happy with the result tonight for a few reasons. Firstly it means we'll finish 7th or 8th (as long as we don't get HAMMERED on Saturday). Also means we'll finish above flathead Judas and the white shite. And thirdly it means we'll be on the telly on Sunday. For a team who will finish 7th or 8th and have been in the top 6 for over a third of the season to have just 2 TV appearances is a bit of a joke. Hopefully we'll help the porno brothers and their media darlings into the play-offs on Saturday.
mikey
There's no way in holy hell that we will win automatic promotion on Saturday. They should give the TV money to a club who need it.

Max 6 Mill Loss by 2014-15, then 5 mill and 3 mill or transfer embargo/massive fine  2. Max investment of 6mill from next season (2012-13), then 5mill, then 3million after  3. Paid Members tiger_rick Posted April 26, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted April 26, 2012 I think it's a good idea in theory but I think the punishment should be a block on promotion. It's not financial fair play if you can afford to pay the fine. Â We will hopefully be OK. We're on course to lose
sivy
agreed, but what about the sides who get relegated from the PL. they will have advantge surely cause of the payment they get for the next four seasons.

They've had that for the past 20 years anyway. very few teams have been able to compete for financial muscle. It hasn't stopped small teams achieving. Derby, Hull, Burnley and Blackpool have gone up in the past 5 years alone without breaking the bank. Teams who come down have the parachute payments but often have massive wage bills and huge turnaround in players.
fleischmark
I just have to say I'm absolutely fuming with Nolan for not squaring the ball the Lansbury at the end of the Bristol City game. It was literally a no brainer, that was a definite goal if he'd just fucking passed it. He even said at the end of the game he just wanted to get his goal count up. Well cheers mate, we need Coventry to do us a favour anyway and a draw is a lot more likely than them winning, so if we don't go up on goal difference i'm going looking for him. Â There are many things we could blame our lack of dominance on. It basically just comes down to bottle. Our defense shit a brick every time we had a 1-0 lead, and ultimately we couldn't kill games off. I know every team could say 'if this, if that' but honestly the games we were drawing absolutely beggars belief. Â I think the only plausible way we're going up automatically, and it's still dancing naked on the peaks of optimism, is a 1-1 draw for Soton and Coventry and even then we have to beat Hull 4-0. Â Alternatively, supposing there was a 1-1 draw with soton and cov, and we won 3-0 (We would have same goal difference, same scored, and same conceded), a brief little look around the net suggests we'd have to play them in a one-off game? Anyone care to confirm or deny that?

Paid Members tiger_rick Posted April 26, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted April 26, 2012 http://www.sportinglife.com/football/live/...s/cc_champ.html  I read it on another forum, I've found the post. Will see if I can find a better source:  The Football League Rules state the following criteria: 1. Points gained (obvious)  2. When points are the same, Goal Difference  3. When points and goal difference are the same, Goals Scored  4. When points and goal difference and goals scored are the same, Head to Head records between the clubs involved.  - in the head to head points are considered first then goal difference, then goals scored.  5. If, after all that the clubs are still equal on all counts, there is a playoff game at a neutral ground.  Edit: It's here on the FL site: http://www.football-league.co.uk/regulatio...93633_2125717#

davewilson
Here we go, the final game of the season, I think that Saints will see the job through, either that or its probably going to be one of the most biggest chokes by a football team in recent memory! They are playing my lot who are already down. I think I will be gutted if Cov win today, I hope we go down with q complete lack of dignity and get a few sent off.
