From f4w/observer

Keith Kizer, the Executive Director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission just sent this out regarding the drug testing for Saturday's UFC show, which corresponds with the talk on last night's Observer radio show:

"I am still waiting for all steroid and drug test results to come back. We did have at least one positive test. I will send out an email later today on that

They might, but they still look like a bunch of Cockney wide boys looking for a scrap. David O'Donnell does himself no favours. It was comical as he introduced the 'Anderson Silva of Landun!!!' who got KO'd in a few seconds. I hate looking at their typical crowds. You see roided up, bald meatheads looking bored shitless when any fight hits the mat.

outside of some of the stuff that goes on inside the cage, UCMMA (Cage Rage UK, it has 2 names now for some reason) is just the drizzling shits. O'Donnell though for all his critisicm must be doing something right, he's been running regular MMA shows for about 10 years. The guy is just such a mark for himself though it's embarrasing. Everything about the presentation of their show is just shit, i just don't see why they don't copy the UFC template, but they throw out that cockey geezer vibe and it's just cringeworthy.

The opening of the show, showing O'Donnell, Jason Barrett and Grant Waterman getting out of a limo looking like gangsters is fucking stupid, the dancing down the ailse (whilst no one in the audience is paying attention), the in ring presentation 'Someone's getting sparked!!', everything is just the shits. O'Donnell knows people hate it too, but he sticks to his guns.

Having said that though, they do have some decent in-cage stuff. There's some talented fighters there. It's just the match-making is incredibly biased and at times flatout dangerous, the Ashley Grimshaw fight last night being one, the dude he fought had no business even being in the cage. O'Donnell's philosophy on matchmaking seems to be to try and guarantee that the audience see's as much violence as possible.

just found this has been released:

That flew under the radar. That's a must-read book for me, i've said it numerous times here that Goodridge is one of my all time favorite fighters. Just one of the ultimate blood and guts type fighters, it was a treat seeing him fight back in the day. Never a dull moment.

It's so sad to hear that Goodridge is paying the price for the style he fought right now, but you've gotta have massive respect for Big Daddy.

Yeah I just saw this on Meltzer's site. Sounds like one of the better MMA books going by the guy's review on there. I'll deffo be picking that up, always liked Goodridge and he's literally been everywhere from UFC, Pride, K-1, Boxing the lot. Should be a great read.

anyone seen the new revamped UFC Ultimate Insider? they've put on it Fuel TV now and have Jon Anik hosting. Very cool show, the first episode had a Chael Sonnen blog type thing following him into the Bisping fight - it's a rare chance to see the real Chael too, he turns off the schtick for a little bit. Also a decent little interview with Jon Jones as well as a segment featuring a mic'd up GSP sitting cageside during the Condit/Diaz fight.

"Carlos is spoiling the party"

Well worth checking out.

From NSAC: Mr. [Nick] Diaz tested positive for marijuana metabolites. A complaint for disciplinary action against Mr. Diaz has been filed.

So Nick, would you agree your marijuana smoking has got in the way of your fight career?

more crazy camp news...Michael Bisping has parted ways with the Wolflair!

This is interesting, Bisping's been Wolfslair through and through all his career. Makes you wonder what the problem there is, the way Paul Kelly left a couple of years back always struck me as odd too. He was so committed to that team he had the fucking team logo tattooed on his back for fuck's sake. He went as far as getting it covered with another tattoo when he left.

Maybe it's just Bisping wanting to change things up but I never thought he'd leave the Wolfslair to be honest.

it blows the mind that Diaz has got busted for this again. I know he's a smoker, but f'n common! surely you just cut it out near fight time?! The fact that he's main eventing a PPV, probably the biggest fight of his career and he blows it by doing something as stupid as smoking a few joints, he's knows he'll get tested...words fail me.

It makes you wonder what would have happened if Diaz had beaten Condit.

yeh, did the real story ever come out about that? (the Kelly story). Wonder if Kongo & Rampage will follow suit.

From Kevin Iole:

On Jan 31, Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended boxer Matt Vanda 1 year and fined him 40 percent of purse after 2nd positive test for marijuana. This is 2nd positive test for Diaz.

Can't see them taking it easy on Diaz.

Diaz is a right idiot.

Diaz would be stripped of the Interim UFC Welterweight Championship if he won and I guess the UFC would have tried to have another Interim UFC Welterweight Championship fight. Good job Condit won (I was one of the few who predicted a Condit win and I thought he did).
