Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted May 5, 2016 Author Paid Members Posted May 5, 2016 Saw Civil War last night, I thought it was great, everyone will think I'm a mental case for this but I did prefer Batman V Superman. I did absolutely love the new Spider-Man, I had a massive smile on my face whenever he was on the screen, there was loads more of him than I expected but I couldn't get enough, I can't wait to see him interact with Hulk and Thor. The big fight scene Spidey was in is definitely one of the best sections of any Superhero film yet. Baron Zemo has always been one of my favourite looking villains so I was a bit disappointed with how he looked and he was a bit too low key for such a big film. I felt the film ended a bit abruptly too. Cap and Bucky should just get a room. Quote
CavemanLynn Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I think Civil War ended at just the right point. The villain's plot played out, and the conflict stayed on the two advertised throughout rather than shoehorning an extraneous CG ending on it (a legit criticism of previous Marvel films and their penchant for dropping increasingly big things out of the sky). It set its stall early doors and kept things moving, unlike BvS which took ages getting anywhere and still outstayed its welcome. Quote
Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted May 13, 2016 Author Paid Members Posted May 13, 2016 Agent Carter has been cancelled, I always watched it but it really could've done with being a lot more fun. Quote
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted May 13, 2016 Paid Members Posted May 13, 2016 It seemed to have one of those rabid fanbases that just wasn't enough to keep it alive through actual ratings, but might give it some sort of afterlife. Not if Haley Atwell isn't going to be available because ABC obviously like her, and have her signed up for another show already. Quote
Paid Members chokeout Posted May 13, 2016 Paid Members Posted May 13, 2016 It was getting championed as a really pro-feminism TV series a lot online when it really wasn't. It was quite campy and fun but they really should have played up to the Marvel Universe a lot more. There's no reason why as a series it wasn't full of Howling Commando appearances, HYDRA and nods to loads of the older Captain America villains Quote
METAL ON METAL Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 It was a massively missed opportunity really, the amount of potential backstory they could've added to the already established (and well-liked) character is a waste. I really enjoyed the first season but the second was absolute rubbish that never went anywhere with it's daft storyline. The Agents of SHIELD spin-off (feat. Mockingbird and Hunter) Marvel's Most Wanted hasn't been picked up for series either. Hopefully those two return next season as they tended to be highlights. Quote
DeanoTheGame Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Not really bothered about Agent Carter being cancelled as season two was really bad, probably the worst thing the MCU has put out so far. Shame about Marvel's Most Wanted though. Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Could it be a case of simply sticking the word Marvel at the start of something isn't proof of a sure fire hit anymore, coupled with a bit of over saturation of the superhero genre as a whole? Obviously it's still massively popular, but maybe audiences are more likely to turn out in masses for the more established characters Quote
CavemanLynn Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Agent Carter did itself no favours with a lacklustre second season which nixed the great work of the first season by substituting the fun, references and reveals of other Marvel with attempts at social commentary. I persevered with it due to Atwell, but even its bite-size season length dragged, and there was no Oh Shit moment that tied everything together. Like someone said earlier, it really should have had more Howling Commando cameos to liven things up. A missed opportunity. Quote
Juan Manforce Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Surprised no-one's commented on X-Men: Apocalypse yet. It's fucking shite. Quote
DJM Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 I liked it Just come back from watching it. It's nowhere near as bad as many are making it out to be. It is flawed, some of the characters are not used as much as you would like, and it jumps around the world a lot from city to city following the main set of characters (which some have seemed to find confusing and a little messy), but it is still a very good film on the whole and a more than acceptable addition to the X-Men series of films. Guest Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Have rewatched all of the xmen films over the last week, bar last stand they are all solid 7/10 for me. Quote
theringmaster Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 The x men response has been just plain weird to me. No its not as good as First Class and DotFP but that's doesn't automatically make it sh*t. I really enjoyed it, yes it's flawed but most threequels are. Quote
