FUM
If they're showing AMC stuff I hope we get the next season of Breaking Bad. I can't fucking wait for that one. Â Do FX not have Breaking Bad? Love the show also, couple of episodes through season three.
CAREBEAR LUVVA
They do, and Five USA have also had it at some point. Just hoping somewhere there's a home for the new episodes in the summer!
remlap
I don't think AMC retains the rights to sell internationally like HBO and Showtime do. Breaking Bad is sold by Sony, Mad Men by Lionsgate. Â Looking really forward to Treme.
MoistVaj
Not looking forward to anything in particular, but will be checking out most shows from episode 1 to give them chance. It's all about discovering new shows I've never seen before so its fantastic news.
Steveo2007
Hope OZ gets a good run.
KingOfMetal
It would be great for them to re-run Oz for anyone whose yet to see it. Same for Deadwood, which Ive never seen. Â So long as it doesnt become the Sex And The City channel, it should be decent viewing.
Paid Members nfc90210 Posted January 8, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted January 8, 2011 I'm looking forward to the channel launching. It's going to be good to have all the new HBO shows in one place. If I didn't have Sky and was with Virgin or someone though I would be gutted.
Paid Members lambyUK Posted January 9, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted January 9, 2011 Can't believe noone has mentioned Entourage! Shameful! Â Also, its the latest season as well! Sweet!
KingOfMetal
http://tv.sky.com/skyatlantic  Welcome to Sky Atlantic, the home of HBO's world class television. This exciting new channel will bring you some of the most iconic shows in television, from Tuesday 1st February 2011.  From stunning new epics like the Prohibition-era drama Boardwalk Empire (pictured) directed by Martin Scorsese and fantasy drama Game of Thrones, to classic HBO original series The Sopranos and Six Feet Under, Sky Atlantic features the greatest acting, writing and directing talent from TV and film.  Also debuting on Sky Atlantic will be the seventh series of Entourage, Treme (co-created by David Simon, the brains behind The Wire), new comedy How To Make It In America (from the producers of Entourage), and comedy-drama Weeds.  In the future, the channel will premiere the brand new fifth series of Mad Men, as well as the highly anticipated Kate Winslet mini-series Mildred Pierce.  "This is must-see TV" say GQ, in their 100 Best Things In The World feature
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted January 9, 2011 Awards Moderator Share Posted January 9, 2011 I've never seen any Six Feet Under so I'd be quite happy to catch that if it's on at a good time. Â HBO does comedies as well, doesn't it? I think Curb Your Enthusiasm is HBO, but I doubt that'll switch from More 4 ... but I hope Bored To Death is shown. I don't know if Bored To Death's any good, of course, but I'm intrigued by the cast...
Paid Members SiMania Posted January 9, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted January 9, 2011 Bored to Death will be shown, it was announced the other day, and it is very good, one of my favourites from the last couple of years, I'll watch them all again. Paid Members Your Fight Site Posted January 9, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted January 9, 2011 Was Oz shot/mastered in HD? Seems too old. Yeah. But don't Sky also advertise films from the like, the 50s in HD?
Sergio Bellend
Was Oz shot/mastered in HD? Seems too old. Yeah. But don't Sky also advertise films from the like, the 50s in HD? Â Nah it wouldn't be in HD, or even widescreen. The Sopranos, The Wire etc. weren't in HD. In terms of US television its a fairly new development, and stuff from the states isn't in widescreen unless it's in HD (its either HD or the old 4:3), unlike over here. Â Whereas older films can always be shown in HD, as the majority (bar TV movies) are designed to be shown on cinema screens, thus need to be downgraded for TV. Hence they can then be downgraded less for HD.
The Curious Orange
If it was shot on film as opposed to video it could be shown in HD with a bit of mastering. Old films can be shown in HD because the source material film reel is high definition, where video tape which many 80s and 90s TV shows where shot in isn't.
