JakeRobertsParoleOfficer
Is anyone else fed up of Powerslam magazine. Its become such an anti rag. Usually 3/4 is WWE, with a few lines of 'TNA' hatred thrown in. Nash, Flair etc are always criticised heavily yet have been far more entertaining than most of WWE's stuff. I used to really like Powerslam however its almost like its become a bitter old dirt sheet now. Probably wont be buying again, as its not an even read now and im sure it is actually encouraging people not to watch.
L_E_T_H_A_L
I've become fed-up of you, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Â If you don't like Power Slam, don't buy it. I still enjoy the mag, but not as much as I did in the late nineties and early 2000s. Currently, it's the best of a bad lot - by fucking miles. Â I look forward to your next pointless thread... Â EDIT: Oh, and by the way: Power Slam hasn't BECOME an anti-rag. It's ALWAYS been one. Edited October 6, 2010 by L_E_T_H_A_L
King Pitcos
I think Powerslam's a bit shithouse lately, because 90% of the magazine is Fin Martin covering wrestling that he hates. Then another seven is adverts and Fin Martin covering bland workrate stuff, which he loves but I've no interest in. Then there's 3% of the magazine dedicated to MMA. But when the only other magazine in its field is Fighting Spirit, it's always going to be the leader.
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted October 6, 2010 Paid Members Share Posted October 6, 2010 (edited) I agree. Fin Martin just comes across as bitter. I've not bothered buying this months and I'm not arsed. It started to get really just under two years ago, where he'd bring up somebody like Bret Hart or Mick Foley in an article for no reason, just to slag them off. Â The articles aren't that great these days too. Edited October 6, 2010 by Saviour.
JakeRobertsParoleOfficer
love the personal attacks by the self appointed forum police (Lethal) for daring to post a wrestling topic in a wrestling forum. If you don't like it dont reply/comment. Some people on here make me laugh. This is:  a free forum not by invite only not made for a select few has no 'cant post about your favourite subject' rule etc  if you dont like what i post why don't you go, and if you can afford to pay Edited October 6, 2010 by JakeRobertsParoleOfficer
Richie Freebird
I used to agree with a lot of his slagging offs, but it
freaky
I agree. Fin Martin just comes across as bitter. You should see his Twitter. I scanned through all of his entries the other day - of which there aren't many - and he's critical in about 95% of them.
JakeRobertsParoleOfficer
Im really pleased that im not getting totally abused here as i thought it as a valid topic. Â I just really think that for a wrestling mag, Powerslam comes across as not liking wrestling much. It seems to have a particular dislike for Flair that seems to have been going on years (every mag they seem to insult him), same with Nash. We then basically get a 4 page spread on a WWE ppv which they go into in microscopic detail about, criticising the lot. It usually likes to finish with digs at Cena. Â I really do think it has become anti rag. And to Lethal, i was buying it when it first came out and it hasnt always been anti. It actually used to be a good reporting mag that made it easy for people without sky to follow the scene.
Paid Members PunkStep Posted October 6, 2010 Paid Members Share Posted October 6, 2010 This is why I like the good ol' kayfabed PWI. It always puts over the product, no matter what state it's in. If a casual happens to pick up a copy of Powerslam, and it's all doom and gloom, it could influence that readers perception on wrestling. However if they pick up PWI, who are selling the industry like there's no tomorrow, there's a chance it could raise the readers interest. Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted October 6, 2010 Paid Members Share Posted October 6, 2010 Im really pleased that im not getting totally abused here as i thought it as a valid topic. I find it funny that it's cool for Fin Martin to slag wrestling in a wrestling magazine, but if you slag off a magazine on a wrestling forum then you need shot. Â From this logic Fin Martin should just shut up and enjoy wrestling. If he doesn't, stop following it.
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted October 6, 2010 Paid Members Share Posted October 6, 2010 Im really pleased that im not getting totally abused here as i thought it as a valid topic. It's not as bad as most of your topics, granted. Â PS is pretty negative. I think it's nearly always pretty valid though. Lord knows why they've got it in for Ric Flair mind. It could be: Â a) An unjust vendetta b) Flair is a fucking embarrassing shambles who sold his soul for a dollar and a bottle of pils. Paid Members martyngnr Posted October 6, 2010 Paid Members Share Posted October 6, 2010 I gave up on Powerslam a few months ago as I was fed up of Fin Martin constantly taking needless cheap shots at Chris Jericho. Â If anyone recommends any of the articles to me then I'll maybe have a quick flick through it in WH Smith.
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted October 6, 2010 Paid Members Share Posted October 6, 2010 Powerslam is just a reflection of the product it covers. It was good in the late 90s because wrestling was good in the late 90s and it is shit now because the product it covers is pretty shit now. Powerslam is still a million times better than Fighting Spirit though.
