Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted July 13, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted July 13, 2012 Sage Stallone dead of overdose. Â I spoke with Sage once about a project I was trying to get going - he was a bit of a kook, but seemed like a nice guy, and I always respected that he tried to do something interesting with the perks of privilege. This news made me very sad.
Jonathan Ford
That picture, right there, is a microcosm of everything that is wrong with James Bond post-Licence To Kill. In many ways, I absolutely agree. Too much style, not enough substance....same as the flippy-display type shit in Quantum of Solace and the microchip in the arm in Casino Royale. I love Daniel Craig as James Bond; like Dalton, he plays it as a guy who would kill you for fun. Therefore, this Bond doesn't need a Q or a Moneypenny...just belting spy stories where he gets to kill people with his bare hands and make us suspend our disbelief. Using poncy gadgets and invisible cars and such shit is wank.

iamtheman
Â Marvel made some huge announcements Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con about their "Phase Two" of self-produced movies. Thor 2 will be titled Thor: The Dark World. Captain America 2 will be called Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Yes, they're going there! And confirming recent reports, Marvel announced that their other big 2014 release besides Cap 2 will be Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed that the current lineup of the Guardians will be in the movie: Star Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Groot and, yes, Rocket Raccoon! Don't believe us? Then look at the official concept art the studio has released for the movie. (To think we live in a world where Rocket Raccoon gets a movie before Wonder Woman or Doctor Strange!) But that wasn't all Marvel revealed. They brought out writer-director Edgar Wright who showed the crowd his recently filmed proof of concept test footage for Ant-Man. Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted July 15, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted July 15, 2012 Fuck the haters, the constant influx of new Superhero movies gets me so hard. I can't wait to see some footage from Man of steel. Stoked about Captain America: Winter Soldier too, that story will make a great film. Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 15, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted July 15, 2012 Ant Man. What's his weakness, kettles of boiling water? Keep on tugging on those udders and milking this superhero shit until all they are spitting out are Uwe Boll and McG films. Â Let's look at a proper film instead:- Â http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1549920/ Â Fucking hell, that sounds ace and look at that cast. Luis Guzman and Harry Dean Stanton in the same fucking film. Â Shove that in your Bat Cave and smoke it, Nolan.
Keith Houchen
Wasn't there a thread for comic book movies? There should be, let's keep this thread for proper films. Speaking of which, I can't wait for the new Paul Thomas Anderson film "The Master". One of the most assured hands working in Cinema for my money
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 15, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) I thought there was such a thread, too. If there isn't, could someone please do one? Â Yes, The Master sounds tremendous. Anderson is only in his early 40s, too, so many amazing films ahead of him. Â Have you seen Martha Marcy May Marlene yet, Keith? I thought it was very good indeed, one of the few restrained 'cult' films that I have ever seen. The lead character in The Master sounds quite similar to the cult leader in Martha Marcy May Marlene. Â EDIT - yes, it was even Steve Big Jobs who created said thread:- Â http://ukff.com/index.php?showtopic=120693&hl= Edited July 15, 2012 by Gladstone Small
Keith Houchen
It was on at the Cornerhouse and my wife expressed an interest in seeing it. Sadly I didn't get round to it as it as it was only showing briefly. I will check it out though.

Elizabeth Olsen puts in one of the best performances I've seen for years in it, I think you and Mrs Houchen will really like it.  And Take Shelter, too. Nothing to do with anything we're talking about but I'm just trying to get everyone to see the bugger.  Wasn't there a thread for comic book movies? What about the presumably 16 cackillion superhero films lined up to about 2016 that people want to talk about?  Whether I like them or not I think it makes sense to have their own thread considering that they are so popular and prevalent. Most of the stuff announced at Comic Con isn't out until 2014. Just seems a bit pointless.  What are people thinking about The Hobbit? Reaction to the Comic Con footage seems better than the 48fps stuff they screened earlier in the year, which supposedly looked "like actors on a set," but I've got a terrible feeling it's going to be quite, quite shit. Peter Jackson's post-LOTR output has been fucking awful, and the character design for the dwarves looks like something from a Tesco Christmas ad. I know they have to give individual character to thirteen dwarves, but the big prosthetic noses and silly beards have half of them looking like Klingons. Look at this bullshit.   As much as I love the LOTR films, after Lovely Bones, Peter Jackson should have been stripped of his filmmaking licence and sent to work on a farm.
