Since she was mentioned earlier in a different context, Aja Kong came in for the survivor series 95 match and then had a match on Raw where she busted up Chapparita Asari and you can hear Vince in real time on commentary essentially firing her. I believe the plan was to set her up as the next feud with Alundra Blayze but it all fell apart.

Strange time in retrospect in the lead up to the match where JR was doing segments on the action zone showing clips from AJW and introducing the Japanese women to a WWF audience.

Would Gangrel in 2004 count? Worked one match with Vis as "The Ministry" then vanished.

It depends if it was ever supposed to be anything more. There have been tons of one night returns, like all the lads who beat up Heath Slater and the various "Old School" episodes of TV and open challenges. They were never designed to be more than fun cameos.

Likewise AEW have done a load of one-night appearances that I don’t think were ever meant to go further - Juventud Guerrera, Rob Van Dam etc.

I'm 99% sure Gangrel was just a cameo. Perhaps there was scope for it to become more - they signed Viscera on the back of this - but it didn't lead to anything.

Chavo Guerrero's AEW stint was another weird one. He appeared as Andrade's new manager and it lasted just over a month before Andrade turned on him. Chavo went on hiatus to film something (possibly Young Rock?) never to return.

Christ, I have got zero recollection of Chavo Guerrero being in AEW at all. I remember Vickie Guerrero was Andrade's manager briefly, but Chavo too? That has blown my mind a bit as I thought my memory regarding AEW was quite good!

Andrade's first AEW run was utter shite, looking back. Quick partnerships with Vickie and Chavo, then he arsed around with the Hardy Family Office (remember them?) for what seemed like an eternity, then he disappeared before joining the miserable-bastard roster on Collision alongside Punk, Thunder Rosa and Miro.

Here's his debut, if it helps jog the memory...

I don't, and I certainly don't remember Andrade being associated with Hardy. I remember Matt managing Private Party, so I assumed it was to do with that - but after googling I see they were all in a stable with Butcher, Blade and Bunny and Jack Evans and Angelico which subsequently became known as the Andrade Hardy Family Office. I have zero recollection of this, so I can only assume it all played out on Dark or Rampage.

What has been interesting in this thread is how some short stints were actually far longer than I realised. Someone corrected me on Buddy Rose and his early 90's WWF run being longer than I thought.

I thought Chris Adams only had a short run in WCW but actually it was between 1997 and 1999. Same with Ricky Steamboat in WWF in 1991 - it was March to October, whilst I though it was more a couple of months in the Summer.

Time to give this guy his due...

Steve-Chamberland.jpg

Not Jimmy Hart, but the other man in the photo - he's Steve Chamberland, otherwise known as the guy John Laurinaitis signed by mistake instead of Zach Gowen back in 2003. When WWE realised his balls up, they ditched him and brought in Gowen instead. He seems to have founded a charity to help fellow amputees since then, so good for him.

DJ Gabriel. Some Brit fella that had an Alex Wright dancing gimmick on possibly ECW? It didn't last, but his manager Alicia Fox stuck around a bit (many years) more.

He was with WWE for longer than you might think - from 2005 until 2010, even though his stint on the main roster (if ECW even counts as main roster) was brief. He must have been really young at the time too, a quick Google has shown me that he's still only 43.

I met Alicia Fox (and Gail Kim, Teddy Long and Mike Chioda) in a bar in Memphis after a Smackdown taping in the later summer of 2009.

I told her that her former dance partner wrestled in the UK as "Steve Sonic", which she found very amusing.
