Greatest brawls.

I've been binging on some old school brawls recently and figured I would start a thread to pay homage to pro wrestling's greatest brawls.

Any era. Any territory. Any country. Only intense, hate filled brawls allowed.

I'll start.

Obviously, Memphis were the pioneers and had some absolute crackers. Of course, there was Lawler and Dundee vs The Blonde Bombers in the original Tupelo Concession Stand brawl...

....but they also had a wild one in Evansville many years later where Lawler and co. trashed the backstage area....
 

...and another one several years after that where Jerry Lawler, Jeff Jarrett and the Moondogs destroy the American Legion Hall in Kennett, Missouri. Nutters. 

So, come on lads, Fights. Brawls. Grown men (or women) punching each other in the face, hitting each other with inanimate objects, bleeding and generally just hating each other.

Memphis, 1984. King Kong Bundy & Rick Rude harass Jerry Jarrett about not being booked on some big card. Lawler & Randy Savage come out and then everyone just starts throwing hands, objects, and anything else at each other. Not the bloodiest of Memphis studio brawls, but I genuinely reckon one of the most intense. Everyone in this is terrifying and looks like they want to absolutely maim each other.

The brawl itself is actually a bit crap, but the angle is RED HOT. I love that the scrap is accompanied by non-stop high pitch female shrieks for the full duration. A tremendous piece of business.

I like it because it looks unhinged. It's not people throwing bombs, it's pulling at each other, knocking the set over and just clawing and nasty, like a nasty scrap in a pub car park or something.

Agreed. It's not smooth or polished and looks more like a real fight would were it a real fight. 

The bit where they fight into the set and it nearly falls over adds a genuine layer of danger and unpredictability to it.

Imagine seeing this on TV at 11 o clock on a Saturday morning.

When I think of that match, the first thought is Austin clotheslining Foley off the guard rail. Mick bumps at such a mental speed and the sound he makes hitting the ground is both absolutely horrendous and amazing. The crowd pop for it is incredible. It's the perfect Attitude Era main event encapsulated. A perfect bit of booking where everything is on point... and yeah, awesome brawl.

I see your Austin vs Dude Love and raise you Funk v Flair from 1989.

I'm undecided if their GAB match or the I-Quit Match was better but both were intense fights which looked like they meant it and had you questioning whether there might be some genuine animosity there.

I was waiting for someone to bring up Flair/Funk - "I Quit". Because it opens up the possibility of War Games '92 and Bret Austin's "I Quit" match also being in the conversation if the matches are of that style too.

Absolutely. 

"Only intense, hate filled brawls allowed." - both matches definitely fit that bill.

I mean it's Samoa Joe vs Necro Butcher from a modern standpoint, pretty sure it'd have fans from any era going nuts and lusting for blood.

I’ve not watched this match for a long time, so no idea how it holds up. But this was one of my favourite ROH matches for a while.

Two of the greatest matches of all time between Jerry Lawler and Dutch Mantell, first a no DQ match and then a barbed wire match the following week

I posted this elsewhere when talking about Super Dragon but it fits here too, just a wild, wild brawl between both ROH and CZW and is arguably just as good if not better than the Cage of Death match that comes later.
