Merzbow Posted August 13 Posted August 13 The Allied Powers deserved better, they just suffered from being in a tag division that fucking stank to high heaven in 1995. You know shit's going down the wrong way when your first match is against the Harris Nazis in an opener. Quote
AshC Posted August 13 Posted August 13 You'd have thought them dethroning Owen and Yoko (at Summerslam?) was a natural direction. But maybe they had the idea to turn Davey and that was that for the team. It always seemed curious Davey turned on Diesel and not Luger. Quote
DazzM Posted August 13 Posted August 13 I actually really liked The Lexicusus Lark... Lexicus.... Narcissist Lex Luger. I despised his face run. Would have loved if they kept going with the bionic arm thing, corny as it may be, could have really solidified him as a cocky, self enthused heel. Quote
Chili Posted August 13 Posted August 13 (edited) I'm always one for wondering if wrestler through his career has a perfect run of entrance themes (Rick Rude is a great example), but Luger? Hoo boy, quite the compilation of top tunes from NWA to WWF to WCW, from his great WCW US champ theme, Narcissist, faux Hogan era, return to WCW biddly biddle stock music to The Total Package. Even the Lex Express video has a Jim Johnson banger ballad. Edited August 13 by Chili Quote
Merzbow Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Wait one second.. I never twigged that his Narcissist theme sounds a little like Angelo Badalementi before, especially the intro. Quote
kidzero Posted August 13 Posted August 13 I was a teenager in the new generation era I loved lex I was a big fan of the lex million dollar corporation storyline in 94 and his tag team with Davey boy is underrated I loved WrestleMania 11 Quote
Cannibal Man Posted August 13 Posted August 13 I wasnt watching WWF between 93 and 95 and my only exposure to Lex was George Napolitano photographs and the 1995 sticker book. I honestly thought his whole gimmick was he was a German who'd been turned to the 'good' American side. I'm sorry to any Germans here but he has an old German blokes face, plus his name was LUGER. Quote
davertfnewman Posted August 13 Posted August 13 And his real surname is Pfohl, so definitely German. Quote
Chico Torres Posted August 13 Posted August 13 In fact in a promo before Survivor Series 1993 when the All Americans were facing the Foreign Fanatics, Jim Cornette specifically said something like “Luger, Steiners…sounds more German than American to me” (while managing a “Japanese” fella called Rodney) Quote
Merzbow Posted August 16 Posted August 16 The day Luger got a clean win over Bret was just uploaded to the WCW channel, I don't think I've actually seen this match before. It's in that stupid time where Bret was an nWo member, never made any sense. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted August 16 Paid Members Posted August 16 I probably saw the match at the time because I very rarely missed Nitro back then but I can’t remember that one either. Seen mentions of it on Twitter yesterday though saying it was one of Bret’s best WCW matches? I’ll have to give it a look later. Quote
