Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted August 11 Paid Members Posted August 11 This absolutely banger came on the radio yesterday; And it got me thinking about celebrities who have had the biggest fall from grace.* From being atop the world of both music and film, to now where he's seemingly struggling to get a movie made, his latest rap videos get mercilessly trashed online and he's basically a figure of ridicule and a walking meme who is more famous for being emasculated by his wife and for forcing his nepo-babies down our throats than for his contributions to cinema/music. Who else rivals Will Smith for going from hero to zero? Apologies if this thread is unnecessarily mean-spirited but I did once sit through After Earth so it's swings and roundabouts. *Please try to avoid naming celebrities who got outed as nonces/racists etc - these go without saying! deathrey Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I think slapping Chris Rock had a lot to do with his fall from grace too. I remember thinking he was done when his latest tour included Blackpool and Wolverhampton. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted August 11 Members Posted August 11 I don't think Will has particularly had a "fall from grace" to be honest. That Chris Rock incident harmed him for sure, but people would still go and see him in the right film, I think he probably just wanted to focus on music for a bit. Pretty sure the last Bad Boys film did pretty well, and even in his music hey day, he wasn't ever gonna sell out Wembley. Quote
davertfnewman Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I think the wife he slapped Chris Rock for did him more harm than slapping Chris Rock. Quote
davertfnewman Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I think he's taken a big hit due to them keeping up the pretence of still being together despite being separated and her being with other guys. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 The Chris Rock thing definitely started the fall from grace but it was part of a far bigger thing with Jada, and he's nowhere near what he was. Not that he's a complete outcast but it's night and day compared to his career before. He has a very damaged image. Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted August 11 Moderators Posted August 11 (edited) If you go by online rep Seinfeld. For a long time he was revered as comedy royalty. You widely see the narrative these days that Larry was the brains, Jerry has done nothing good since, and that he's a creepy paedo. (It's hard to argue against the latter two, first obviously much more debatable). Edit: him being an outspoken zionist doesn't help his rep either Edited August 11 by Chest Rockwell Quote
davertfnewman Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Beyond the damage that Jada has done to Will, he's not been helped by how weird his kids have been, Jaden specifically. Fair play to Will in trying to launch his son's career but he's in the realm of aloof that Ezra Miller resides in. Quote
Cousin Jim Bob Posted August 11 Posted August 11 (edited) James Franco going from A list Oscar nominated actor, to getting Me Too'd after wearing a Times Up pin, was some downfall. No one wanted to work with him, even Seth Rogen gave up on him. I do see he is trying to worm his way back now though, with that Rambo reboot. Hopefully it flops. Can Jared Leto be next please. Jada and Will agreed to stay married whilst seeing other people. Both of them, not just Jada. The relationships status may have damaged him more because the world is patriarchal but Jada didn't do this to him, he agreed to it, it was mutual. He is free to divorce if he wishes to, but he doesn't. Quote
davertfnewman Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Will didn't lead with it being fodder for personal podcasts, though; Jada did. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I think both Will and Jada have been incredibly problematic and clearly bring the worst out in each other. I think Will having the lovable nice guy personality for so long meant all the weirdness had a lot more damage to him, but Jada being a woman meant she had to deal with her own fallout from all of it with so many judging her simply on being female. Absolutely true, and he has had ample time to leave, divorce, do wherever but he hasn't. He chose to stay much like he chose for this to be the way their relationship is. I'm no fan of Jada but it's unfair to frame this as all her fault. Quote
