What in the David Brent was that

CM Punk is nothing like David Brent. David Brent really struggled to operate under a new, young, "hip" boss, David Brent got fired on a significant day (the day of laughter) David Brent told his best mate to "fuck off", David Brent had barely hidden contempt for everyone around him, and hung out with his subordinate to make him look better, David Brent was a bit sleazy with the new young women in the office (you've charmed me), towards the end of his Wernham Hogg run David Brent let himself go a bit, David Brent loved to show off how much he did for charity....oh hang on.

And when it all goes wrong? "They'll come to me and say, Ooh, Phil you were right all along, you were the right man for this job, you're the best man for this job. Will you come back? I'll be like, yeah sure how much money have you got? Because this is going to cost you, this is going to cost you"

I lasted about 15 mins before I had to turn this off. I just cannot stand Triple H, both in his insipid pieces to camera where he's trying to justify his shit booking or in the clips where he's talking backstage and can't complete a sentence without uttering the word fuck. I assume he does that because he thinks it comes as him being really grizzled and tough, but actually shows him to be the complete opposite, just like his stupid  leather/denim combo or terminator entrance did 20 years ago.

Just an utter, utter irredeemable idiot.

Punk - to his low bar credit, I guess - does come off as notably human, despite their attempts to have him be one of the people they build the series around.

People in Unreal are generally either high narcissist, grovelling sycophants, John Cena or just that lo-fi culture shock of "Jesus Christ, you record and broadcast everything you do."

Punk did come off as a bloke doing a job, grudgingly taking part and happy to explain but only to a point. It doesn't strike me as something you can fake, in these things.

I've just watched him use the phrase 'I am a creative'. I'm out.

Though, they did amusingly follow that up by landing the idea of 'punkanomics' on him. Creative, my arse.

Across two episodes, I would say the theme of the series so far is 'just make clear that any bad ideas or anything shit wasn't Triple H's idea'.

*edit* I hate to say it, and close your eyes @Supremo, but over the first two episodes Seth Rollins has come across the best to me. I'm sure he's about to do something annoying, though.

I watched the first episode of the new series, having never seen any before. Across an hour's run time, the thing that struck me is how nothingy it is. I didn't learn a single thing. There wasn't a single clip or moment I'd share.

People saying fuck a lot, hearing insider terms and shots of the planning whiteboards is not the peak behind the scenes they think it is. Not a single genuine insight or interesting information learned. Unreal is quite a fitting name, as none of the narratives or ways things supposedly played out are real. Well done to WWE, I guess, getting to have their cake and eat it.

Counterpoint- I’ve seen a clip of him having a little cry about his injury late last year because he believed this robbed him of his chance of finally Main Eventing Night 2 of Wrestlemania.

Yes, Seth. You and Bron were definitely going to headline over CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns.

VAR Decision: Whopper.

So, I definitely did speak too soon. And, there was a bit of this. But I would say, he seemed more sad about the concept of losing another Wrestlemania and any chance of making the main event, rather than expressly thinking the Bron match would get him there.

It's a stupid show really, as you realise it's not possible for this group of people to be 'real'. Their whole trade is creating fake realities, and this is just an extension of that. Yet you still spend all your time trying to work out who seems like a good egg.

I think the only conclusion you can actually draw is that wrestlers can't act normal without seeming like a character from The Office.

I've not seen a huge amount of Stephanie Vaquer, but I thought it was mad the only person even willing to acknowledge that that finish is only popular because bum was Chelsea Green. That might have been the realest moment in the show, actually.

The emotional cutaways back and forth between her dad looking proud and her gratuitous arse bashings were wild.
