Paid Members Thunderplex Posted May 16 Paid Members Posted May 16 Have you tried Marine Juice? There’s a guy who does excellent paining vids called Sonic Sledgehammer on YouTube. In one of the videos he has a recipe for a mix he calls Marine Juice or Sonic Sauce. The best shade I’ve used for non black stuff. His vids are worth watching anyways. Quote

Paid Members Thunderplex Posted July 10 Paid Members Posted July 10 As much as I’ve tried to resist, have ordered the Warhammer Old World starter. This will bring my grey pile of shame to 700 minis. Why do I do it to myself? Quote
Retro Red Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Don’t think I’m far off you grey shame-wise (which includes the Old World launch box still untouched). I also foolishly diversified into other games this year with Marvel Crisis Protocol and just recently Masters of the Universe. Quote

I was in the old Games Workshop talking about that recently and I have to say I'm tempted, especially as the Grand Cathay are in it. It's an obvious ploy to break in to the Chinese market but they're ace. Quote

The Hot Air Balloons are a thing of beauty. 32 minutes ago, Retro Red said: Don’t think I’m far off you grey shame-wise (which includes the Old World launch box still untouched). Retro Red Posted July 10 Posted July 10 It’s a slippery slope! I bought the starter box at the start of January, now near 100 characters deep and no sign of stopping. Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted August 28 Paid Members Posted August 28 So the news that multiple Marine units are basically being retired has made about half my army not tournament legal. 😆 Quote
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted August 29 Paid Members Posted August 29 Piss take. No idea why they do that, apart from wanting you to buy other minis. They did the same with MESBG a couple of years ago with the Duneldings. Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted August 29 Paid Members Posted August 29 In fairness the writing has been on the wall for nearly 10 years, we knew it was coming. Still gutted though. Though considering the size of my grey pile of shame I really shouldn't worry as I won't be buying more for quite some time... Quote
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted August 29 Paid Members Posted August 29 Last count I’ve got 742 unpainted mini’s over a number of different games. I think I have a problem! Quote
Retro Red Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I’ve not counted, but I can’t be far off that as well. Quote
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted August 30 Paid Members Posted August 30 (edited) I managed to finish a Rohan house though, so that’s 741 now. Edited August 30 by Thunderplex Quote

They did the same with MESBG a couple of years ago with the Duneldings. I have a friend whose hatred for Age Of Sigmar is beyond anything I've ever seen in any kind of fandom, ever. His explanation is that it's Americanised, inauthentic, and cynical, and one of the biggest factors in that was when they retired one of his favourite armies, Bretonnia, and didn't bring it back until they resurrected WF as WTOW. He also hates it because he hates Space Marines which, he feels, get way too much attention and priority in the Warhammer IP, and he feels like AOS Stormcast Eternals as a concept is them trying to sneak Space Marines into a fantasy setting. Quote
Retro Red Posted September 1 Posted September 1 I don’t think it’s fair to say they were sneaking it, AoS was always pitched as a more action oriented game than original fantasy - and they ran together for a while before fantasy was retired due to low sales. Stormcast have always been positioned as the poster faction for Sigmar, they’ve been very blatant about that. plenty of disgruntled ex fantasy players out there, that’s why old world now exists - and the player response for that has taken it from a small side game to a more featured part of their calendar.
