This isn't the first time I've heard them talk about how it knocks them out and that's not my experience when I take one when I've got hay fever or spend too much time stroking the dogs in the café on the corner. Yeah, it's a different active ingredient - diphenhydramine, that is also a mild sedative. Every so often my Tennessee-born wife will get a shipment from her mom with a bunch of American stuff including US medicine because she claims it's so much more effective.
