Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted July 5, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) EDIT this question due to already been asked. Here's another..  How good is the Bond film "Licence to Kill"? Really is a cracker, IMO.  ..and is "Never Say Never Again" part of the legit James Bond cannon now seen as the Broccolli family bought the rights to it? Cheers. Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted July 5, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 5, 2016 I love Licence to Kill. It's actually one of the best Bond movies there is, but it came out in the Summer of Batman where you couldn't turn right without seeing that symbol, and cunts were even shaving that symbol into their heads. A new Bond with a drastic change in tone never stood a fucking chance. Partyman was a better song than your one from the Pips' Bond number too. Â I don't even know what canon is in relation to Bond movies, so if both Casino Royales are canon, with the original being a tongue in cheek take on the book, and Never Say Never Again is a tongue in cheek take on Thunderball, then I'd say it is. Â Ah, I'm going to watch that from me sick bed! What a great movie. Nice one Barold, you've just given me some viewing for the day. "Could you give me a urine sample into this beaker, Mr.Bond" "From here?"Brilliant.

"Could you give me a urine sample into this beaker, Mr.Bond" "From here?" 1989 what a year when you look back on it. The year we saw Batman reborn, Indiana, Bond, Back to the Future, Lethal Weapon and Ghostbusters all had sequels, Turtle mania had just reached the UK and yet two of the biggest films were about a talking baby and a man dying at his own party used as a puppet to make people think he was still alive. Â I was 6 that summer, and it is probably the first summer I have clear memories of. Â Has there every been such a jam packed summer as that for film? Brilliant. Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted July 5, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) ITV always do the criminal mistake of showing "Licence to Kill" at like 2pm or something as well. Edited July 5, 2016 by bAzTNM#
The Clint
Yeah I've noticed that trend with ITV. Connery, Moore and Dalton's outings always seem to air in the afternoons while Brosnan and Craig always get the primetime slots.  Everytime I dip into my Bond collection I always skip OHMSS because Lazenby's performance was as dull as dishwater. I read that Adam West was offered the role as Bond in OHMSS but turned it down. Pitty cause I think he certainly would've made a better James Bond than Lazenby. Although by 1969 I think Adam was already typecast after Batman. Edited July 5, 2016 by The Clint
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted July 5, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 5, 2016 Connery, Moore, and Dalton's films are much older, though, so it stands to reason that they're not getting the primetime slots. They've been on the telly a lot more. Â My favourite story about Bond actors is the one David Warbeck tells, that he was on retainer to step in as Bond for a decade or so. Don't know if it's true, but I do love the idea of an alternate Bond, and it's sad to think how gutted he must have been when they cut him off in the 80s because he was getting too old. Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted July 5, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) Warbeck was the old "Milk Tray" advert man and was probably a big name at the time because of it. I could see it happening in maybe the middle 80s. "Who Dares Wins" Lewis Collins would have been perfect for the role, IMO. He ended up working a few Italian action films that did a lot of the stuff a Bond film would have done. He did a film where Klaus Kinski was the baddie that was quite interesting. Â Sam Neill's screen-test is on "The Living Daylights" old DVD. Might have been interesting if he had got it. They probably could have got 20 years worth of films out of him if he'd accepted and we never would have had Big Rog as Bond.
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted July 5, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 5, 2016 That's an alternate universe I can get behind — Timothy Dalton is a young Bond from the 70s to the 80s, bypassing Roger Moore, and then Lewis Collins takes over, and doesn't end up making Kommando Leopard and then retiring. Paid Members Maverick Posted July 5, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 5, 2016 We'd have missed out on the best bond then though. Sir Rog.

Paid Members WWFChilli Posted July 5, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 5, 2016 Lewis Collins I've always felt is really underated. He's cool as fuck in the Professionals.

Paid Members Maverick Posted July 6, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 6, 2016 For Your Eyes Only is the only one I didn't love. I'm biased though seem to enjoy Moore in everything. Big Saint fan too.
Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted July 6, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 6, 2016 (edited) I never liked Sir Rog as Bond. My da dragged me to see A View to a Kill and the only thing I remember about that is bronze rusty steps, and having a weird crush on Grace Jones. Me oullad is Bond mad and used to practically force me to watch the likes of them ones with Jaws in Space and another one with himself skiing out of a plane or helicopter. I always found that man too old to be taken seriously as an attractive, tough guy, even as a really young child when I didn’t know what was attractive...besides Grace Jones. Yet I believed in Connery? The only Bond movies I actually liked were Thunderball, Never Say Never Again, Licence to Kill, The Living Daylights, Casino Royale (Craigster) and Skyfall.
