kidkris
If your into british gangster films i cannot recommend enough bonded by blood. It's the story of the essex boys but the cast, the script and the acting is fucking spot on. Â There are some really really dark moments in it but also some light hearted moments too. patiirc
 Idris Elba was delightful as uber bastard Shere Khan Are you joking? Between this and Zootopia, Idris is dragging films down with his expressionless and leaden voice acting. I love the guy on screen but his voice talent is the pits.  Nope, not joking,  His performance reminded me a bit of,Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber, Quiet, cold, calculating, machivellian and oozing pure evil, without the need for OTT theatrics. The rest of the ensemble, came up with that, King Louis in particular, so Shere Khan didnt need it.   The casual nonchalance of the way in which he lobbed Arkeela off a cliff, without so much a care is indicative of that. Although important to the story and the wolfpac and Mowgli, it was of minor significance to Shere Khan, so the condescending, almost bored VO was perfect for it
patiirc
 I equally enjoyed Jungle Book. But my guilty pleasure is the Fast Series. You are in for a treat with 7.  Is there a Fast code? I'd go 1,6,5,2,3,4 but yes,  the series is a massive pleasure, sod, the 'guilty' part.
DeanoTheGame
I love the Fast franchise too. One of the best franchises in cinema today, I'd say just behind the MCU and Mission: Impossible. 2 and 3 were both a bit shit but the rest have all been great popcorn movies. Â EDIT: Oh, and Idris Elba's voice acting in Zootropolis was fine! Edited May 22, 2016 by DeanoTheGame

It felt very ITV specialish when he was talking. Â I think it would have worked better if he and Ben Kingsley swapped roles.

Paid Members chokeout Posted May 26, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted May 26, 2016 Â That film. Am I right in thinking it's Scott's first film? You would have thought Harvey Keitel would have been a big star coming off the back of it.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted May 26, 2016 Author Paid Members Share Posted May 26, 2016 (edited) Yeah, it was Ridley's first. It could have been a brilliant career. Â The surprise to me was Keith Carradine. Not the kind of role I'm used to seeing him in but he was superb in this, he's a more versatile and better actor than I think I've given him credit for. Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted May 26, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted May 26, 2016 I think showing his willy in The Piano - and the subsequent mocking of same at some awards ceremony, what's name eludes me - ruled out his star rising further than DeNiro-lite. The Piano was strange though. Very boring, I thought. Although, I saw that when I was 13 in the cinema because the UCI had given out a load of free tickets to nearby residential houses, and the gang of us had already seen Addams Family Values but just wanted somewhere to eat a load of cheese popcorn and to ruin the adults in attendances moviegoing pleasure. We were thrown out/asked to leave near the end, which was the right decision by the UCI. However, I distinctly remember thinking that my willy was bigger than Keitels, and I also couldn't believe that Holly Hunters brass screwtop was on full display. Arthouse, nothing! That was her badge on the big screen, and I think that movie left it's mark on me.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted May 26, 2016 Author Paid Members Share Posted May 26, 2016 The Keitel conger has made a few appearances, hasn't it? Definitely made an appearance in Bad Lieutenant, I think it might have reared its ugly head in Holy Smoke as well. Must be more than that.
