TheBigBoot
- Best heel CM Punk Vickie Guerrero John Laurinaitis It's been a bad year for in-ring heels. Ziggler does absolutely nothing effective that's heelish. Bryan was too much fun. Â It really has, although I think the problem goes back around fifteen years at this point, but now more than ever there are so few heels whose characters carry across to their matches. Other than Kane, Henry, Big Show, Vickie (in her odd matches) and Barrett it seems noone in WWE really seems to 'work like a heel' in-ring anymore. Â Jericho did as well but it seemed awkward and like too much of a rerun because we'd seen it so many times before and because the crowd clearly wanted him as a face. Punk and Bryan both tried but it seemed a bit "knowing" for lack of a better term. There was just something a bit artificial about it. Not as much as AJ Styles in TNA a few years back but it is still there. Â Much as I rate Ziggler there is very little in ring that differentiates himself from how he would work as a babyface. Same with Miz, Del Rio, Rhodes, Primo, Epico or Swagger you could turn any of them babyface and they could keep working basically the same match. In the case of Miz they actually did. It was the same with Jackson, Morrison, DiBiase and Kidd before they turned as well. It's not a lack of talent thing - I've enjoyed all those people to varying degrees but it just doesn't seem that heel characters translate over to actual matches as much as they used to. I mean, I think Eve is a good heel character but I've seen her work matches that were pretty much identical to the ones she was having as a face. Â In 2012 it seems the only difference between being a face and a heel (other than the odd taunt/gesture) is that as the heel you obviously control more of the flow of the match, but even then we've seen (the babyface versions of) Punk, Orton and Bryan dominate large portions with limb-work not that different to heel Del Rio or heel Ziggler. Vamp
I think one of the problems with working heel now, is that if you get a smarky crowd who's looking to cheer the bad guy then its made even worse if you have an arrogant gimmick where the cheering if going to be viewed as "yeah, I deserve these cheers" because they're just going to get louder. And smark audiences don't help either because they seem to lack the common sense or respect for their supposed heel favourites to boo them and actually help them. That's what I don't understand really. If you like Punk's heel work and think he's great at it then boo him. Don't think you're above the product and cheer him because then he looks like a shit heel. There's really a hole in people who follow the logic of "he's working me very well, wooo, go him!"

Mr. Baxter
Wrestler of the year -- Grado.  Worst wrestler -- Tensai  Best face -- Grado  Best heel -- Brock Lesnar  Best tag team -- Daniels and Kazarian  Best performance -- Everyone involved in Grado vs. Red Lightning at Super Smokin' Thunderbowl. Within a few minutes, this had me emotionally invested more than anything wrestling-related in years.  Best feud -- Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena Not a good year for dualism, but there's been a number of isolated angles that've sustained my interest. "Best feud/angle" might be worth consideration when compiling next year's awards, perhaps?  Match of the year -- Ryback and Team Hell No vs. The Shield (WWE TLC) In a year full of excellent matches but no clear stand-out, this was a last-minute epiphany. Packed to the brim with fun ideas, with all six men on career form.
