Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted October 15, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 15, 2024 Just seen that. Only fairly recently got into him after someone on Twitter recommended his stuff. Saw rumours yesterday, then it seemed like it was possibly false reports, then it got confirmed. Really sad news. And only 52, fuck. Quote

Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted October 25, 2024 Author Moderators Posted October 25, 2024 Kurious, of DOOM features fame, has put out an album. It's called Majician and it's worth checking out. Not sure how I feel about it yet though, I think I need to listen to it a bit more. His flow is very like DOOM's and the beats all sound quite intentionally DOOM and Madlib-like. Quote

His debut, A Constipated Monkey, is a fantastic slice of mostly Beatnuts produced 90s rap. I haven't heard the new one, but am intrigued to hear it. Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted October 25, 2024 Author Moderators Posted October 25, 2024 (edited) Yeah I would definitely say that's what he's best known for. Whilst I'm here Across the Tracks (the conductor Williams / boldy james album from a few months back) is right up there as one of my favourite releases of this year. Excellent record. It's short but the quality is very high! Edited October 25, 2024 by Chest Rockwell Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted October 26, 2024 Members Posted October 26, 2024 Not a huge fan of Boldy but will check it out. My eldest has got quite into hip hop recently and I'm loving introducing her to things. She's always liked lots of different genres but has definitely been more open to rap more. She loves Tyler (gonna try and catch him on the tour), Earl Sweatshirt, some DOOM, so like I say its been fun to try and think of other things that she would like. She's been quite receptive so far to my suggestions but then again she is a very polite child Quote

Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted November 1, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 1, 2024 Can’t stand Westside Gunn but I do love this choice of cover for his new (no doubt shite) album… While I’m here, new song from Skyzoo and Method Man… Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted November 6, 2024 Author Moderators Posted November 6, 2024 Enjoying Conductor We Have a Problem Pt 3 atm. He's been doing great work for a while now. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted November 22, 2024 Members Posted November 22, 2024 Kendrick Lamar has just released a new album, GNX, as a surprise. Wish more artists would do this. Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted November 22, 2024 Author Moderators Posted November 22, 2024 The trend seems to be the exact opposite recently I've noticed, with incredibly long pre-saves on Spotify popping up now frequently. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted December 7, 2024 Members Posted December 7, 2024 Haven't checked any of his stuff for years but seeing this in a best albums of the year list, had to check the latest from Cappo which is absolutely fantastic. Bit heavy and claustrophobic, but sounds absolutely great and proggy in places, Slow Poison in particularly bumps along. Really glad I checked it out. Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted December 11, 2024 Author Moderators Posted December 11, 2024 Couple new albums on rotation. Apollo Brown & Crimeapple is exactly what you'd expect, no surprises but decent. Worth a listen if you already know you'll like it. Doechii - Alligator Bites Never Heal is really nice. Only had one listen so the way through but there's a few real standouts, it's ambitious in its scope and there's no real misses at all. One I think I'll be listening to quite a lot. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted January 1, 2025 Members Posted January 1, 2025 Just watched this absolutely fantastic short comedy film. Incredibly accurate portrayal of what it was like loving rap in the 90s in the UK. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted January 14, 2025 Members Posted January 14, 2025 Madlib has lost everything in the California fires. https://www.brooklynvegan.com/madlib-lost-home-equipment-decades-of-music-in-la-fires-fundraiser-launched/ That is absolutely shit. Quote
