Paid Members PunkStep Posted September 26, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 26, 2012 They might put him in the HOF seeing as they've put an international star in for the past two years. Yeah I suppose so, they'll probably get Flair to induct him wouldn't they?
Moderators PowerButchi Posted September 26, 2012 Moderators Share Posted September 26, 2012 Possibly. Maybe the Funker. I'm trying to think of people linked with Muta from the US that aren't Sting.
Paid Members PunkStep Posted September 26, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 26, 2012 Exactly, Sting would definitely be the most logical but he'll be too busy standing in empty cabins preparing for his match against Taker that weekend. wrestlingmad
WWE released the SummerSlam buyrate today and this years is up 49,000 buys with a grand total of 350,000. Â 2012: 350,000 (Brock Lesn 2011: 301,000 (CM Punk Vs. John Cena) 2010: 350,000 (Team Nexus Vs. Team Cena) 2009: 369,000 (CM Punk Vs. Jeff Hardy) 2008: 477,000 (The Undertaker Vs. Edge)
Dirty Eddie
Did WWE actually release it? I had read that was a preliminary number. It generally takes until the next WWE quarter-year financial results to get the full numbers for PPVs these days.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted September 27, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 27, 2012 (edited) That number has probably just deadlocked a Triple H vs Brock Lesnar rematch at WrestleMania then. Â Odd times in wrestling at the moment. Rock vs Cena and Triple H vs Lesnar have been the two big matches thus far and their biggest viewership in years was the nostalgia driven 1000th Raw. It seems to be a pattern that people will pay money if its the part time big names and not much else. The SummerSlam build was (in the traditional sense) really flat yet it did massive. Yet there are PPVs built very, very well that have done awful. The formula is a bit up the wall at the minute. Â Worth noting that the price went up for SummerSlam in 2010 so this one was probably the biggest money maker in a good long while. Dirty Eddie
If the number is accurate, it also shows what a fucking waste the killing off of the Nexus was. I wonder how much more money Brock's getting now than the NXT boys were on in 2010 to draw the same PPV numbers? The fact that none of them are worth a penny now is a travesty. Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted September 27, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 27, 2012 The SummerSlam 2010 buyrate was seen as a disappointment at the time from what I remember. They had like 3 months of storylines behind it. Standards in 2010 were better than what they are now. They thought the Nexus storyline was a winner. Â It might have been a disappointment, but 2010 (over the whole year) did worse on PPV than 2011, yet the Summerslam with the Nexus did around 50 thousand more buys than the 2011 show with Cena/Punk. On the other hand Wrestlemania and Survivor Series in 2011 both did more buys than 2010 too. Â I think the Nexux storyline was a winner, it just wasn't a "turn the business around" one. It was still the freshest and best thing in WWE that year.
Paid Members JNLister Posted September 27, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 27, 2012 The other big story with this year's SummerSlam is the domestic/international split. It did the biggest domestic buyrate for SummerSlam since 2008, but the international figure was actually below the previous month's Money In The Bank. That's a similar pattern to the Cena match at Extreme Rules. Â One theory is that it is indeed down to Lesnar and he's drawing much bigger in the US where more people recognize him from UFC compared with other countries where it's not on/not as popular/on at stupid o'clock. dangerously420
Taken from : http://www.wrestlezone.com/news/261677-rep...g-at-indy-shows  According to PWInsider.com, TNA is now strictly enforcing a policy which does not allow talent to appear at indy events that will later be released on DVD. As a result, many indy promotions are no longer booking TNA talents for their events. A most recent case of this concerned Chavo Guerrero, who announced that he was pulling out of an NSPW event because the promotion intended to later release the show on DVD.  NSPW responded to Guerrero pulling out of the show by issuing the following statement:  Due to TNA deciding that their talent cant appear on indy feds' dvd, we hav no choice but to cancel Chavo Guerrero's appearance on Oct. 6th. Mr. Guerrero's claim that we decided last minute to tape and sell dvds is incorrect has we have done dvds of all of our shows. It is just not possible to cover the cost without dvds of the event. Never in the past has this been an issue with any guests. NSPW finds the situation and the decision made by TNA to prevent talent from appearing on dvds to be unfortunate. NSPW doesn't hold anything against Mr Guerrero and wishes him nothing but the best with TNA Wrestling. A suitable replacement for our Main Event will be announced tonight!  In recent times in the UK will this affect companies like PWE as they have had AJ Styles, Mickie James and Magnus on their events? Will these events still be allowed to be sold on DVD as it was filmed and edited and released before the policy change has come into effect? Will this affect UK companies from bringing over TNA talent in the future as some promoters may rely on the future DVD sales as a means of affording the talent in the first place? Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted September 27, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 27, 2012 Meltzer is saying that Lesnar is a lock to get a new contract now, if he wants it. This coming 'Mania is surely going to break this years record too, Lesnar v Triple H/Taker and Cena v The Rock - woof!
Sphinx
Well, Bryan Alvarez can eat his words then. I suppose you can't compare what could have happened with what he did, but he said he's damaged goods when he's obviously not.
