He says it is meaningless and watching it or doing it is a waste of time, and worries that cricket is heading the same way.

No he didn't. He said that fixed cricket is meaningless and watching it is a waste of time. And it is. He didn't insult wrestling and then compare it to cricket's future at all.

In all seriousness, though, I have no idea what the OP is getting worked up about. What it boils down to is an old cricketer making a throwaway comment that all of us as wrestling fans must have heard and read a million times before. Calm down.

He didn't 'slam' wrestling and he's actually right, in the context of the issue being discussed. Sensationalist, yes, but still true.

 

They are talking about match fixing, i.e. effectively making it predetermined i.e. making the 'real sport' aspect of it as meaningless as wrestling.

 

Nowt to get worked up about.
