Paid Members DJ Kris Posted September 6, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted September 6, 2011 I know DSF showed WCW, but I used to get annoyed with the German commentary. Oddly though, that didn't bother me with the German porn that used to be on RTL2, which I believe also showed WWF! Damn I miss the German porn

You were hammering one out to Big Boy Barry on Games World.  It was RTL that used to show bits and pieces of WWF. They used to occasionally show matches that we didn't get over here, too. Paid Members Thunderplex Posted September 6, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted September 6, 2011 DSF used to show a little Catch Wrestling as well. Â Eurosport showed NJPW, and quite a bit of european stuff. Â Lifestyle showed WCCW, GWF, and the occasional bit of Georgia Championship wrestling. Wasn't Eurosport showing NJPW relatively recently?
Paid Members JNLister Posted September 6, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted September 6, 2011 (edited) Yeah, they aired what's effectively New Japan's B show that's on cable or satellite in Japan. It's was pretty much glorified house show matches. Â Back in the day, Galavision in Europe mainly showed AAA though they did occasionally show CMLL as well. lightningxlock
DSF used to show a little Catch Wrestling as well. Â Can you remember when they were showing Catch? I always used to catch WCW on there but rarely anything else apart from when they started that roundup show that featured WWE, vintage WCW and ECW
Merzbow
I'll always remember NJPW on Eurosport just for the fact my father kept telling me that Muta was the best wrestler in the world. Â Does anyone remember what was shown late at night on ITV in the late 80's? I was too young to really remember it well but i'm sure it had Flair on a show and was pre-WCW. Mr Lawrence
I'll always remember NJPW on Eurosport just for the fact my father kept telling me that Muta was the best wrestler in the world. Does anyone remember what was shown late at night on ITV in the late 80's? I was too young to really remember it well but i'm sure it had Flair on a show and was pre-WCW.   Originally they used to show WWF Wrestling Challenge (thats what the programme was called - it wasnt the Challenge with Monsoon and Heenan) which was matches from MSG, Boston Gardens and other matches. Once that stop they started showing NWA wrestling, think it was called the Power Hour, used to have Flair, Sid, Sting etc..... some killer Sid squashes. Mero and Bob Holly appeared on there as Jobbers as well.
Paid Members air_raid Posted September 6, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted September 6, 2011 (edited) Worldwide was a great pre-cursor to Gladiators on ITV in 1993, that's all I care to remember. Â Hearing "Simply Ravishing!" before Rick came out to crush some loser, Thunder & Lightening ruining some jobber with their fancy-dan clothesline finisher, such luminaries as Charlie Norris and the Cole Twins, and best of all, those Ron Simmons & Ice Train vs Tex Slazenger and Shanghai Pierce main events that there wasn't enough time to show the end of. On a taped show. Â Maybe I've just had my fill of 80s nostalgia, but suddenly the 90s seem better and better with each passing year. 1992 WcW, Sid, Gladiators, Power Rangers, no-one trying to force you to calorie-count, fewer cunts in the England team, actually needing to have some talent to get on telly, Gail Porter having hair, simpler tastes in porn, I could go one forever. Â Â P.S. - yes, I realize the thread was asking about Sky, but we were too poor to have Sky until the mid-90s, so please indulge me. Tommy Atkins
It was the Global Wrestling Alliance that Lifestyle showed, not the GWF that was in Dallas at the Sportatorium. I don't know if that Global was shown over here, I never saw it if it was. Â What channel showed UWFi (Bushido) in the 90s? Was it Sky Sports? I remember the Malenko's were a big part of it anyway, and one match had Dean Malenko vs Norman Smiley, who was performing as Beef Wellington, and smoked a pipe to the ring.  Bushido was on sky Sports IIRC
