He certainly does a hell of a lot better with this. Seriously, it's great - well worth anyone's money. The parts with Graham Bright are amongst the best inadvertent comedy ever.

Saw Black Swan last night, it was very good. The final scenes and performance were excellent. I dont think its a great or anything but a very good film. I didnt think much of the body horror side of things but it was a good story mirroring that of the character she was playing and was very enjoyable. I still find it uncomfrtable sitting in a packed cinema during a sex scene though. :(

You should try a porn theatre in Singapore, squire. Shocking. You don't know whether to roll with the punches or curl up and die...

Watched Faster last night. Was actually very good, and really enjoyable. The Rock was oozing charisma and commanded the screen, and whether he likes it or no, R Rated action is his niche. Billy Bob was very good in it too...I'll be watching it again.

Don't worry, they're not hurting each other.

Soothed the disappointment of the footie by going to see Jason Statham fuck shit up in The Mechanic this evening. It's exactly what you'd expect, if you enjoy the fine work of The Stath then you'll definitely like this. If you don't enjoy his action stylings then this won't do much to change your mind.

Recently been watching Public Enemies, which I wanted to see at the cinema but missed, and subsequently picked it up on DVD. Heard many great things about this. So sat down and watched and wasnt disappointed. Some could say it was a 'reimagining' of Heat/ LA Takedown as it was a heist movie, which includes a difficult, independent women and is directed by Michael Mann, but its very intense. I didnt really rate Bale as Purvis, but Depp as Dillinger was excellent as was Coultillard as his floozy. The Bloke from This is England, whose name Ive forgotten was also very good as Baby Face Nelson. The Two hours or so flew by and was amazing to watch all the twists and turns and the shootout at the lodge was also well done. Lili Taylor also pops up in a role I wasnt expecting and took me a while to remember who she was, oops! Mystic Pizza was a long time ago it would appear. So yeah good film, beautifully shot, only Bale gets on us nerves a lil as an obnoxious cunt, I guess this was a measure of the man he played given the'authenticity' of the shoot (real locations, cars etc used, as in the actual ones where the events occured, where possible) but still irked some what. Good film though

Secondly I was watching the TV the other night and found a fantastic crime caper on ITV4 that I hadnt come across Charley Varrick, Starring Walter Matthau, was a complete joy to watch from start to finish. Matthau playing a 'straight' role, is an ex Barnstormer cum Stuntman cum Bank Robber who gets 'lucky' during an 'interesting' robbery of a small town bank. On the run from the Mob and various others Charley Varrick has to think on his feet to stay ahead of the game and stay alive, whilst all those around him are being caught and killed.

The plot reminded me a lil of Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (which must have been filmed around the same time iirc), and the dynamic of sadistic older guy, young punk sidekick and worldly wise robber in the form of Varrick and subsequent chase and fall out. What stood out were the performances especially Matthau and Joe Don Baker as 'Molly', heck the film even has Mr Big from I'm Gunna Git You Sucka as, er a Mr Big. Wonderfully shot by Don Siegel and a cracking Lalo Schifrin soundtrack already make this a must watch. Seriously great film, worth tracking down

It seems that early 1970's Hollywood was slightly obsessed with these heist movies and a great Triple Bill of The Hot Rock, Charley Varrick and Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, would certainly be an entertaining night watching films!

Just Finished Watching Last Night :

Antomica Extinction (Tokyo Gore Police Prequel)

Basically before Tokyo Gore Police was made this is what the same director experimented on, vertually the same story line, lots of violence and Over the top gore well worth watching and a snippet at just over a hour long :) !!!

I wasn't nuts about this film. There was some cool action but it was all just a bit too much. And not in a good way, like the relentless pace of Crank. But in the way that makes sequences that should be spectacular look commonplace because it just gets undersold and they move straight on to the next hit.

Basically, it was kind of a spotfest, to put it in familiar terminology.

The one caveat I'll add to my review though, is that I watched a shitty cam copy download.

Top 50 Dystopian Films of all time

Lists can be kinda lame. But I thought this one was cool.. It picks a good genre for me - although not nuts about sci fi on the whole there is a real appeal to this kind of thing in particular. All the stuff on there that I have seen I enjoyed, so it'd be cool to check out more of the stuff on there.

Anyone got some thoughts on this list? IT'd be cool to hear particularly from those of you that have seen some of the lesser known titles on the list.

SPOILER! Blade Runner isn't #1.
