just caught Wild Bill, one of the best British movies ive seen in years. Basically the tale of a father trying to reconnect with his kids after a prison sentence whilst remaining haunted by his past. Funny, sad, uplifting and very entertaining, takes you on abit of a rollercoaster emotionally. I know a lot of people love British crime flicks, this is a different kind of take on one and it's well worth watching.

Just finished Himizu.

More enjoyable then the last Sion Sono film I watched (Love Exposure) but not the kind of film I could find myself watching again for some time (but I will watch it again), next on my list is Guilty of Romance and Cold Fish.

Then again I have a week off work and a massive to watch pile so maybe I'll finally finish Noriko's Dinner Table first or knowing me I'll just end up watching something completely unrelated to what I'm posting now.

Watched Take Shelter last night, been thinking about it all day today, its class. Michael Shannon is magnetic, its also got Eli Thompson from Boardwalk Empire and the girl from Eastbound and Down, therefore everyone should watch it. There is something about Jessica Chaistain I really dislike though, cant quite put my finger on it.

You should put your finger up your arse for that. She's fantastic.

 I think its probably because she was so annoying in The Help. Its the only thing I've ever seen her in apart from The Tree of Life, and now Take Shelter.

I watched Heat again at the weekend. Why do you enjoy a lot of films more the second time round? The way each sub-plot seemlesely works it's way into the main story is just phenomenal. Kevin Gage was incredibly creepy in his role as Waingro and it's rather surprising he didn't do much else in his career. I give it five Bulldogs.

I liked Ted. Lots and lots of gags and therefore almost unavoidably hit and miss, but enough of them hit and hit hard enough for me to enjoy it a lot. I also thought it was quite sweet and I enjoyed both Marky Mark and Mila Kunis in it. As utterly absurd as it may be to compare the two, I enjoyed it a more than The Dark Knight Rises.

On the subject of Batman, I thought TDKR was comfortably better than Batman Begins but not as good as The Dark Knight. Didn't need to be two hours forty five at all. I'm not a child and can happily sit still for three hours, but this was unnecessarily bloated, and this is from someone who has sat through some frankly embarrassing films solely to gaze upon Anne Hathaway's almost ethereal beauty. Mostly enjoyed it though. Out of five I would give Batman Begins 2, TDK 4 and TDKR 3. The TDK score is unashamedly and very heavily swayed by Ledger's Joker. I take on board everything about it being easy to give a good performance when you're given free rein and that Aaron Eckhart's performance had more depth and subtlety to it and I'm not over-hyping the performance because he died, I was just completely gripped by him every time he was on screen and thought it was fucking amazing and made some of the utter shite like the looooong scene with the boats worth sitting through. I wouldn't be at all fussed about re-watching the other two but I'd go back and watch a number of Joker's scenes again because I adored them.

Does anyone know why they showed the Irish copyright notices and age ratings before the screening of Ted I saw by the way? Are they doing this for all films now? I didn't know they had a 16 rating instead of 15 over there. That must be annoying.

I didn't notice the Irish thing when I saw Ted, although there was something different about the BBFC certificate.

Didn't notice the Irish thing either. But the bbfc black card has changed. It is there 100th year anniversary and it's a take on their first black card I believe.

Regarding the recent james bond discussion people might like this news:

Sky Movies is to launch a new channel dedicated to James Bond later this year.

Launching in October in both standard and high definition, Sky Movies 007 will make use of Sky's recent deal with MGM to show the entire collection of James Bond movies.

In April, the satellite broadcaster secured rights to all 22 official Bond titles from EON Productions, from Dr No in 1962 to the last Bond film, Quantum of Solace, starring Daniel Craig.

It had poached the rights from ITV, and the deal included to two non-EON produced titles - the 1967 Casino Royale spoof Bond film and Never Say Never Again.

Sky initially indicated that the films would be shown on Sky Movies Showcase, but it has now decided to create a new channel dedicated to the iconic British spy.

All 22 Bond films will be shown on Sky Movies 007, in SD and HD, and without any adverts. This mirrors Sky's recent strategy with Sky Sports F1, the firm's first channel dedicated to just one sport that followed a blockbuster rights deal to Formula One

Sky Movies customers will also be able to access the Bond movies on-demand via the Sky Anytime+ service, along with on the Sky Go multiplatform service and NOW TV, Sky's brand new internet-delivered TV platform.

Ian Lewis, the director of Sky Movies, said: "The Bond movies are a very special franchise and we want to ensure that our customers will be able to experience it in a way they've never been able to before, and so we're going to create a dedicated channel Sky Movies 007 HD devoted entirely to James Bond showing the entire catalogue of films and loads of extra material.

"We're delighted that our customers will have the best Bond movie-watching experience ever with Sky Movies - uninterrupted, in HD, on demand and on the go."

Sky Movies 007 will launch on October 5, timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary celebrations of the release of the first Bond movie, Dr No, on the same day in October 1962.

The 23rd film in the franchise, Skyfall, will be available to rent through the Sky Store and shown on Sky Movies in 2013.

Metropolis, which I've been delaying watching for years. The film is 86 years old and quite how they had effects that good is staggering. It really is an incredible film.

(By the way, I'm not always this pretentious, to balance it out I might follow it with Scary Movie 5)

Diary of the Dead - Was the first available 90 minute film that caught my eye yesterday, so chucked it on. It was dire. Just about everything was terrible. Terrible acting, terrible scirpt, terrible end, terrible characters. It somehow has a 5.8 IMDB rating, which is absolutley insane. There are lots of unbelievably bad scenes and dialouge, with the highlight being that Texan womans last scene in the forest. I wont delve any deeper into this pile of shit, but the ending was one of the most "WTF - That is seriously it?" endings I think I have ever seen, and the general blase attitude of the characters when encountering zombies was two lowlights of the film.
