  1. I'm a big Pat fan. I love the genuine enthusiasm and that he has a really great time out there. I love that he brings the best out of Michael Cole and they obviously enjoy working together too. I can see why he'd irritate some people but just to have a natural fun feeling to commentary really adds to the product for me.
  2. Damn right he did. Hoping for a bollocks or tosser on Smackdown.
  3. I think if we've got him back, we'd all rather he put in a decent shift. I don't think it's an ego thing or deciding he has to be the biggest star. I think he's just putting the work in. He has mostly come across as a guy that respects the business and I think business is at the forefront of the decisions especially now with his position. I'm sure he thinks everyone will come out better at the end. And while we don't know the longer term plan, I highly doubt he's gone in there to bury Roman deliberately and put himself ahead.
  4. And yet you got people moaning about him turning up and doing a half arsed tribute act. So he can't win really.
  5. This is surreal to watch. Looks more out of a movie than anything.
  6. Well, when they want to switch it on they really switch it on, and couldn't have come at a better time. I know there will be the inevitable "but what about Roman!" posts. I could almost hear the typing as I was watching it. But if you're not inclined to think too deeply or over-analyse it all (which obviously we are. It's a wrestling forum.) then the Cody/Rock stuff was just really fucking good. And yeah, either they've gone to the extremes with the swerve or we're potentially keeping heel Rock. I think I'd be happier with the latter. All credit to the guy. He's putting the work in. I hope they book a smart match at Mania so he doesn't break and tear everything as I just want a satisfying conclusion. Tough one though as everyone's loving The Rock when he's turning up. Hopefully this week will shift the balance a bit and get the crowd behind Cody more. I think it was needed. Rhea/Becky is a challenging one as everyone loves Rhea despite her being a heel. She's just a cool one. So there's not quite enough of the face/heel dynamic to make it a strong feud as such, but it still has that big time feel just because of who they are. And Becky bringing the emotion is a good move. I think that'll get more people behind her, although the crowd at Mania will definitely be split. Punk/Drew was as fun as you'd expect. Whatever the real feelings are there, they're definitely both making the most of the opportunity. Drew especially. I'd be absolutely gutted if he left at this point. They need to give him what he's worth, but it depends if he thinks there's enough left for him in WWE or if it's time to spread his wings again a bit. Either way, the guy deserves success. There was some other stuff. The Ricochet match was good. I do wish he had a bit of a personality so they could push him properly but hey. Definitely worth checking out the Rock/Cody and Punk/Drew stuff if you're Youtubing anyway. Not sure how they'll keep the momentum going after this as it's a tough one. Peaked a week too early? We'll see, but for now they're cooking. Yeah COOKING.
  7. Thinking I can "rest my eyes" and just listen to the TV and not fall asleep. Can I fuck. Guaranteed to wake up at 1am confused in front of something that has finished. Or even worse something that whatever streaming service I'm using has continued to play episode after episode of.
  8. I always thought Helms got a fair crack multiple times in different ways. If he came along now, I think there's a lot more people around capable of doing what he could do and better. If anything, he'd potentially struggle more now.
  9. At first I thought it sounded stupid. Then five minutes later I looked for my old school route and watched that because I'm really fucking dull. Raging at the number of red lights though. Could stick it on my VR headset and watch that way, but probably more embarrassing getting caught watching that than porn.
  10. Surprised there isn't a UKFF OnlyFans just for this.
  11. I genuinely remember more about The Shield than I do about Roman's solo stuff between that and his current run. Either it was incredibly forgettable or just so bad I've buried it down deep with the other bad stuff in my life.
  12. That has been something I've wondered - that this is his last big run, and then he gives himself a proper break. This was a run that was almost never possible. They probably want to make the most of it while they can. You just never know.
  13. Depends what the long game is really. Assuming Roman loses, what happens after this? That's always been a very big question. There's plenty of opportunities to get his heat back after all this. If the plan is for Rock/Roman at some point then it all makes more sense. In fact I've always enjoyed the paranoid side of Roman's character. I think that's always been the main weakness whenever we've seen it, so if this is all a long game by Cody/Rock then it makes sense. If it isn't.. well hopefully they'll keep Roman strong in the rebound somehow. I highly doubt they've invested this much time in him just to leave him as a side character.
  14. Cody is the closest to a pure babyface main eventer they've had since Cena or Bryan. He's out there kissing babies and going to kids birthday parties and a bazillion other things. I'm not sure they could get much more traditional if they tried. He's Hogan without the racism.
  15. My joy at seeing unexpected Sabre didnt last long. (Thats what she said). But mostly raging over the end of the women's eliminator. Come on! Wrong person won damnit.
  16. Is it all losing momentum or was it just a shit crowd? Tough to know really. All companies get that once in a while. There's a lot of assumptions going on. I think the telling thing will be the Mania reaction and how things go after that. If they can transition into something people care about too. That's always a tough one.
  17. School assembly. One of those ones where you have to sit on the floor. I ALWAYS got pins and needles from them so I'd always be one of the last ones to get up so I could stretch my legs and get the feeling back. Sadly one time they decided to do prizes of recognition in the middle of the assembly. They called my name out. Great! Or not, because as soon as I stood up and tried to walk towards the headmaster I fell right back down. In front of the whole fucking year. As you can imagine, that wasn't something that just got forgotten. I'll never sit on the floor again.
  18. Vodka? Fucks sake. The many gins of Cody Rhodes was right there.
  19. I guess the one thing you can't port over, no matter who it is, is a long term emotional attachment if you've not followed their journey before. There's top stars and then there's favourites and a mixture of both. Kinda like why I don't hate Seth Rollins quite as much as some - sorry! - simply due to having watched him from day 1 in ROH and being invested in his journey, even if I'm not necessarily a massive fan of his current "character" (and I use that word loosely). We all find ways to be invested in certain people. Might be their work. Might be a long term commitment. Can be both. It's definitely something a lot of the Japanese stars suffer with if they don't have an immediately impressive performance or character, especially in WWE.
  20. Thought this was some new indy team I hadn't heard of.
  21. Yeah I was sat watching it on a train on the way to work and I wondered what the fuck anyone would think if they walked past and saw what I was watching. I hoped they didn't expect me to explain because I didn't have a fucking clue myself. I still don't know how I feel about it. I've read about it after and obviously it's incredibly open to interpretation. I do love that they did whatever they wanted to do and I'm okay with things not being completely tied up in a neat bow but you're right about the lack of satisfaction. I guess that's life though right?
  22. This was always going to be the best move, and I hope they already knew it. Sure, you get the initial pop for her in the hometown and all that, but everyone knows she's far better as a heel because that character does not lend itself to being believable or likeable. She thinks she's better than everyone else. She's the boss. The CEO. She's great at coming across as disingenuous and cocky. If I'd put bets on who would come in as a heel between her and Okada, it definitely would've been her. Not to say it hasn't been a stroke of genius with Okada but it's a far more natural place for Mercedes to be.
  23. WWE2k23 Got it on the cheap now the new one is out. Haven't bought one in a good 4-5 years so thought I'd give it a chance. Actually pleasantly surprised. General presentation is really good. A few ridiculous glitches still but doesn't feel nearly as much of a slog as some previous games and doesn't look terrible either. Well apart from the faces and teeth freaking me out on cut scenes. Helps that I've got it on my Steamdeck so I can just dip in and out whenever. Just working through My Rise at the moment but yeah definitely the most solid all round WWE game I've played in ages. I'll definitely pick the next one up once that goes cheap too.
  24. I wonder if Bayley even wants to jump right back into full face mode. Arguably she had a tough time getting to the main roster and succeeding under that gimmick. Will it work returning to it? I think it needs to be a natural progression if they do head that way and it'd be fairly jarring to just see her turn up like that at Mania. I'm sure it'll raise a smile if it happens, but she also wants Paramore as an entrance doesn't she? Time will tell but Rhea/Becky is feeling a bigger match at the moment.
  25. You do know you can discuss things without openly slagging off other people, right? And that your opinions are just that - opinions. What you think/feel/enjoy isn't gospel. You like AEW and you don't like McDonalds. Good for you. Doesn't mean that's what everyone should be doing, and you really need to find a way of being able to discuss stuff without shutting others down as if you're always right and everyone else is wrong.
