  1. Liverpool and Arsenal both doing a cracking Arsenal impression today. Goodbye sweet Jurgen, you were always too good for us.
  2. Tony Khan is far too inconsistent with his character to be the good guy he’d like to be seen as. He’s almost seen as some kind of socialist billionaire wrestling saviour by virtue of not being the rapey sex maniac across the road. HHH is a small petty man at the best of times but he’s obviously going to sell being rejected for a smaller fed as being on the fault of the rejector. Ospreay made absolutely the right call, he’s massive for AEW and gets to write his own ticket there.
  3. Of course heels can be entertaining. You’re meant to enjoy watching them. As long as the reaction they illicit is that of booing and hissing they’re doing their job right. Cunts like Austin Theory get nothing, the crowd see right through him as the mid 2000’s era fitness model looking shit cunt throwback he is.
  4. If Solo taking control of The Bloodline and adding his own members leads to a confrontation with Roman where he asks Solo what gave him the right and Solo gets to say “I did it for The Rock” then I will be fucking ecstatic!

Sometimes race, gender and identity are pivotal to the story. I don’t think I could buy in to a straight historical epic like Shogun if all the Japanese characters were white, brown and all the colours in between. Then again turn that epic in to a musical where all the characters rap and you can cast who you want to play anyone you like. If it’s a completely made up story like Doctor Who then you have creative license to bend and change that story to anything imaginable. The audience will decide if it works.

I didn’t see the uproar when Ice Cube took over the XXX franchise.
  7. I’m about half way through Fallout and it’s tonally the most perfect adaptation from a game to tv/film there’s ever been. It manages to pay fan service whilst being appealing to a mainstream audience of non sweaty neckbeards. The Last of Us did a great job but that is a much more straightforward adaptation. Jonathan Nolan is forgiven for that last series of Westworld.
  8. Why do wrong people call the midday meal lunch but the people who serve it dinner ladies?
  9. This needs to be the start of Christians next feud.
  10. Kofi Kingston filled Xavier Woods en-suite shower compartment with plastic play pit balls because Woods borrowed his copy of Call of Duty without asking.
  11. I’d rather see that to be honest. Imagine Spurs going on Match of the Day and announcing they have some Diddy Cam footage they’d like to show from the away changing rooms of Arsenal players shoving each other. Yes Bacon, Spurs are the AEW to Arsenals WWE in this scenario.
  12. Somebody needs to release the Orndorff/Vader/Flip flops footage now.
  13. So what’s this Okada fella all about then? He has a great face, one of those people who are pleasing to look at faces but having no previous experience of him he doesn’t instantly strike me as the superstar I’m being sold. Is he one of those guys that takes a bit of time investment to get the full package or am I missing it? Also, listening to the commentary try to get his rip chord lariat over as a deadly finisher just illustrates the problem you have when you have a dozen more deadly looking moves not even finishing matches on the same show. I’ve always loved a lariat and variations of it as finishers but when you’ve got top rope brainbuster near falls it’s a tough sell for a medium sized guy to get a regular looking lariat over.
  14. I didn’t find any of it depressing. Funny, pathetic and cringeworthy yes. Depressing no. I could have happily lived the rest of my life without seeing it but I’m glad someone was stupid enough to show it in all its pathetic nothing glory. Nobody was seriously hurt, there’s no serious real life repercussions. CM Punk is and always will be a pathetic magnificent man child. He’s great at pro wrestling but part of what makes the whole package so interesting is the real life fragile baby underneath that incredibly thin skin.
  15. I know it sounds like a bit of a stretch and a backwards way about doing this but it is Tony Khan so who knows. I think this was his way of trying to take control of the narrative and get the speculation done with and out of the way. It’s literally the only thing that doesn’t make him look like a complete fool with no self awareness. Oh wait, maybe it is a stretch.
  16. Lou Carpenter would play a great Democracy Manifest guy in the biopic. Try to imagine Lou saying “Are you waiting to receive my limp penis?” See, the same!
  17. Great way to end it. I’ve probably never not enjoyed an episode of Curb. There were some really strong series around the middle of the run but I don’t think the show ever dipped below 8/10. My favourite moment is probably Larry killing it in The Producers and getting a rare win. Really missed Marty Funkhauser in those last few.

    Work

Not as good as when Kenan and Kel turned Rigby’s in to a nightclub.
  19. I did used to enjoy the Evertonian’s gloating about how they’re gonna throw the games against City to spite Liverpool. I’m sure City were grateful of the help in overcoming the mighty Everton.

Yeah it’s a point I considered when I first started seeing straight blokes using He/Him pronouns in their Twitter bio’s but then I saw top red and Flanno regular Rahul Kohli explain that he does it as a show of support and to normalize it and I did indeed think of the children. The good thing about being a shallow flippant centrist dad is that you’re always open to new views and outlooks.

Yeah, it’s articulate, heartfelt and well informed. It certainly makes my views on using terminology look petty and foolish. It also explains why I couldn’t find your review of the latest Fantastic Beasts on Letterboxd!
