What are AEW Gonna Do With Three Shows?

I think it is fairly clear that TK couldn't find a TV home for ROH because if he could they'd already be on TV and not nobbing around with Honour Club, though as I understand it they were quite far down the road to TV with The CW until Producer Paul pounced and got NXT the gig. So any talk of calling any of these shows ROH would appear to be a non-starter to me. From reading JLM's excellent write ups it appears that ROH is very much a C show at best anyway, definitely sub Rampage. Though let's be clear I would watch a programme called Sub Rampage which in my mind would be a cross between Seaquest DSV and The Hunger Games. 

What we as wrestling fans want is clear definition between the shows, what TV networks want is the top guys on all the shows that they air and shite on their competitors channels. I think it is more likely we get some sort of Dy-Na-Mi-Tee show on Fox but with very little cross promotion to TNT/TBS and that Dynamite runs as it is now with Collision becoming more Rampagey. Collision was only pitched to solve one specific problem, that didn't work and is now a different problem anyway. 

In conclusion, Dynamite is Dynamite, Shockwave is Collision+ and Collision is Rampage.

I don’t know if they could/would do a kids show, based on their content on PPV - not unless it clears completely removed from the AEW branding, at least. From a PR perspective, I think they’d be putting themselves at risk of negative publicity, should any media outlet latch on to the idea that they’re targeting children, and putting things like the bag spot on PPV. I think they’d either have to tone that kind of thing down, or run it under completely different branding. I think WWE could get away with it, but it would be really hard for a show that takes a more mature approach to do so.

The last two years has shown us everything we need to know about the media's attitude to pro-wrestling and the amount of time pro-wrestling scandal lives in the conscience of the public and wrestling fans.

I doubt they'd do this, I don't think it's part of their thinking or planning, but it's a great idea. It doesn't have to be overly explicit, not like WCW Worldwide with Batman graphics and freeze frames, but putting out their stars who are kid-friendly, booking in a simple way they can enjoy and presenting shows with some colour and life that are attractive to anyone channel surfing at 6:05 on a Saturday would be interesting use of one of the secondary shows.

Was Saturday Morning Slam a success? As I know that they were trying to focus on the more kid friendly wrestlers on that show.

I saw some talk a few months ago of AEW looking at a seasonal wrestling show idea being banded about. I guess similar to how Lucha Underground worked, but with more mainstream stories. That would be very interesting if that was what Fox were looking for, but at the same time the appeal of guaranteed 52 week content would seem more like something any network would be more interesting.

There’s a difference between the wellbeing of performers and ‘think of the kids!’ though. You could compare it to stories about violent video games - the media will happily report on scare stories, but they’re much less likely to report on the massive job losses experienced within the industry. It’s surface level reporting - it’s easy to do, and if they think they can rile up their readers with it to get clicks, they will. Unlike what you’re referring to, it doesn’t involve any digging at all.

Possibly. But WWE marketed to kids massively during the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras which featured heavy sexual content - and in the US they are far more sensitive to sexual stuff than violence. You had Rey Mysterio as the kids favourite on the same show Dawn Marie shagged an old man to death and Brock Lesnar threw a disabled person down a staircase and you could buy action figures for all of them (well not the old man). So it might not matter as much as we think.

But anyway, I highly doubt we will ever see an AEW kids show. It doesn't seem to be a market they are interested in.

My five year old son will only watch what he deems 'colour wrestling', and has absolutely no interest in everyone being dressed in Black, in a black ring, in front of a dimly lit crowd. To that end, the kids show idea full of colourful wrestlers would be perfect.

Yes, yes it does. 

If it's 2 hours they can fuck off. I know it's probably the sensible business decision but the most frustrating thing about AEW is when it doesn't focus on what could be strengths but copies WWE's weaknesses. There's a point when it becomes obvious you're just producing content for the sake of content and it devalues everything you do.
