Thefatduck
Looking for inspiration from the great and the good.  What is your go to recipe for a crisp sandwich? Crisps - Which brand? What flavour? Number of packets? Bread - Which brand? How many slices? Crust non crust? Extras - butter? margarine? sauce(s)? Method - Crisps crushed or left whole? Squash the bread or leave light and airy? One slice at a time or two?  I’ll go first… Crisps - Walkers roast chicken. 1 packet.  Bread - 2 slices of  Warburtons medium sliced white (dark blue packet) Extras - soft, salted butter spread THINLY Method - layer on a single slice, fold in half, lightly squash
DavidB6937
So, I'm a bit weird but I don't like butter with crisps so I go in dry. Controversial I know. I'm usually a roll over sandwich kinda guy too. Used to just go traditional white but lately I've quite enjoyed a good cheese roll with salt and vinegar crisps. Nice contrast. Otherwise it's BBQ Hula Hoops and the sliced white Warburtons rolls. They're just the right size. Don't want too big or stuff starts falling out. Also like to balance it out with some ready salted Squares because I'm greedy. SuperBacon
I'm not fussy, but the crisps HAVE to be crushed, not whole. Sauce????? Get out.

I’m troubled by the hula hoops in a sandwich. Love the texture and flavour but the shape is quite troublesome in terms of the structural integrity of the bread. I often find they poke through the bread like beefy daggers.

Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted March 15 Paid Members Share Posted March 15 Warburtons toastie bread (orange pack), spread cheese (primula is best), walkers cheese and onion. Crush them down, the extra thick bread stops it being too thin when compressed.
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted March 15 Paid Members Share Posted March 15 Crisps. Half pack of roast chicken, half pack of pickled onion monster munch Bread. Hovis white extra thick, lightly buttered Sauce, salad cream, lightly spread on both slices of bread. Crush the crisps and the monster munch together and sprinkle on bread. Make into sandwich. Enjoy with a can of R Whites Lemonade.
Merzbow
Has anyone ever seen one of those crisp sandwich shops in the wild? Or did they all die off after the gimmick of overcharging for a prole classic got tired?

I never saw one and I'm a sucker for a gimmick food place.

I haven't, and wouldn't indulge in such behaviour, but I still want to go to one of those bottomless crisp events where you can have as many sarnies as you like.
