We moved out of our flat in November. The estate agent was shit and neither us nor the landlord saw the checkout report until 2-3 weeks later. There’s a few things flagged in the report beyond fair wear and tear but that’s what you get with 6+ years in a flat with 2 young’uns, so it’s not too bad. Anyway, our deposit is still sitting in the DPS. What’s supposed to happen now? Does the landlord go first and say “I’m deducting X” and we say yes/no, or are we supposed to go in there and say we want to withdraw the money, and then they say how much they’re taking off?

Been back renting a couple of years. Environmental health visit tomorrow following issues around damp, mould and a soil vent pipe which pumps the smell of shit directly next to the window we're being told we need to ventilate out of. The old anxiety is flashing red like Russia has launched the big one. The property manager who I hate dealing with will be there too and gaslighting myself into thinking there is not an issue, despite the catalogue of evidence to the contrary. This has taken up so much time and brain space over the past three months since moving into this one. It's absolutely exhausting and we're going to need to move again imminently.
