Paid Members Egg Shen Posted March 27 Author Paid Members Posted March 27 Apparently there may be a re-brand coming. I listened to John Martin on Helwani's podcast this week, it made me feel pretty optimistic about the promotion going forward. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted March 27 Author Paid Members Posted March 27 PFL card that goes head to head with the UFC tomorrow night, i'm assuming this will be on Talksport's Youtube channel again. Brian Battle's PFL debut in the main event against Johnny Eblen, solid fight. Quote
jimufctna24 Posted March 30 Posted March 30 I didn't watch this weekend's show, but it actually aired for free on PFL's YouTube channel. Quote
Kfogg1991 Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Holy fuck ebelin ragdolled battle I mean not even slightly competitive....it got to a point it looked like he was just letting him get up so he could pick him up like I do my son and drop him on his head I mean genuinely impressive showing for him fuck knows where battle goes next after this also did I hear right when they said he was ranked 4th??? It was his first fucking fight how is he ranked and how the piss is he in the top 5..... Didn't think that through not a great indictment of your roster when someone comes in that's never stopped foot in the door only to get the most generous fast track push known to man Only watched the co-main bar the main and fuck me Kasanganay must have left the meter running in his Uber cos he took no time or feeling process just in knockout his opponent and out in time for x-factor. I'll watch the rest tomorrow Quote
jimufctna24 Posted March 30 Posted March 30 The next PFL show on April 11th looks like a showcase of some of their best prospects, with three unbeaten guys (Newman, McKee, and Khavalov), headlining against veterans. Newman and McKee's names both ring a bell, and I probably watched some of their Bellator fights, but I'm not overly familiar with either. I haven't heard of Khavalov at all. Given the show will probably be FTA on YouTube, I'm prepared to give it a watch if I have the energy. Quote
Zebra Kid Mark Posted March 30 Posted March 30 If it's free on YouTube I will definitely give the main card a watch. I was checking out their future schedule and it looks like Benson Henderson is in the main event of their Brussels card against a Belgian fighter called Patrick Habirora. Henderson is 42 now and he last time he fought was 3 years ago in March 2023 (side note, but how is March 2023, already 3 years ago?). It's weird that PFL have signed him as they seemed to be distancing themselves from older (and probably more expensive) fighters. Quote

I was going to guess that perhaps the PFL are honouring fights on his old Bellator contract, but after checking it appears as though he was booked to fight elsewhere in 2024, and has signed a fresh deal with PFL for this fight. So aye, it's an odd signing, I agree. Perhaps they want a name on the Belgian fighter's record? Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted March 30 Paid Members Posted March 30 Had a bit of a time finding out which McKee in PFL this was - as far as I knew, both AJ and Rhys aren't undefeated, and a "PFL McKee" search just brings up AJ. Never heard of Mitch before. Quote

Habirora is pretty much the top European prospect at 170lb, that's a calculated boxing style booking where the young gun murks the established former champ with name value. Habirora in 1. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 16 Author Paid Members Posted April 16 Random PFL show in Belfast this evening, it's free on the PFL youtube channel. Solid little card if you dig into it. Tyson Pedro sneaking back into MMA on the main card. That said, a main card start of midnight on a school night is insanity, who booked that? Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted April 16 Paid Members Posted April 16 Didn't realise the UFC had released Caolan Loughran. On a win, too. Quote

jimufctna24 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Cheers EBB. I didn't watch this past weekend's PFL event, but I did read that their prospects won, which is good for them I guess. Quote

Paid Members Egg Shen Posted May 14 Author Paid Members Posted May 14 Get the feeling the PFL is heading in the right direction this year, and what a breath of fresh air this guy is promoting his product. The complete opposite of Dana. It makes me want to see them succeed. Quote
