It does seem like they might be circling the drain a bit now though. Chairman/founder of PFL Donn Davis recently left and I believe Jake Paul too, not that he did fuck all for them anyway. Then you’ve got Francis Ngannou publicly telling people he wants to fight Jon Jones in the UFC or Deontay Wilder in Boxing, while still under contract with PFL. It’s not a great sign, might be completely off base but from the outside it kind of seems like everyone’s trying to jump off a sinking ship. Yeah dude the news and goings on recently don't read well and feel concerning. Thing is I really don't want it to happen I've followed belator for years watching most shows and even choosing them over UFC to watch live which is testament to how they were doing. The merger with pfl came out of nowhere and never felt good and it working for every belator fighter at all and since then they've stopped belator shows all together and started running way less shows so those fighters are fucked with no chance of getting on shows and left in a shit place because... I've heard there in millions in debt and it doesn't feel it's going to turn round and start making profit again so something will give and close for good which is terrible for the sport, the hundreds of fighters out of jobs and like wrestling MMA really strives with competition and the need to make efforts booking shows and territories aswell I fucking hope I'm wrong come end of the year but I don't feel confident Quote

Ray Sefo out too. Sounds like they've had a full overhaul. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted March 18 Paid Members Posted March 18 Just read that Friday’s PFL card from Madrid is gonna stream free on Talksport’s YouTube channel. Quote
jimufctna24 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Cheers @wandshogun09 I'll probably give the top two bouts a watch. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted March 18 Paid Members Posted March 18 Yeah between this and UFC London, it’s a decent weekend for MMA on at a reasonable hour. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted March 19 Author Paid Members Posted March 19 Sneaky little Cage Warriors on Friday evening as well. Interested that it's on Talksport though, ive noticed all the PFL stuff has been pulled from DAZN so im assuming that relationship is over? Seeing some of the PFL footage this week though has got me up for this event. Spain seems to be following France in terms of fandom, fans look they out in force for this. Nice little Sherdog article previewing the show: https://www.sherdog.com/news/articles/Best-Reasons-to-Catch-PFL-Madrid-200497 It sucks that the UK's enthusiasm only ever seems to be the UFC, and that's waning. The European countries treat their fighters outside of the UFC like stars, even if it isn't the cream of the crop the fighters seem massively supported. Over here you're lucky to get a Cage Warriors fight in front of your mates at a nightclub in London. Quote

No idea, but I have seen it be speculated that PFL's viewing figures were dreadful on DAZN. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted March 19 Author Paid Members Posted March 19 I wouldn't be surprised, they weren't on DAZN in the US and I can't imagine there being much viewing pull from the UK. Quote

jimufctna24 Posted March 20 Posted March 20 For anyone interested, this was posted about the PFL on the Sherdog forum in January: Quote No new investors, Knighthead Capital is a long time investor in PFL. In debt Donn Davis was looking for new investors but Knighthead instead bought the new shares teaming up with other investor from UAE to buy the shares... as PFL is run by the one holding the most shares they got to take over. Donn did not expect this. Knighthead Capital based in USA but own soccer teams in UK and cricket teams. They are better suited to run PFL. Said they will focus on making the promotion more appealing to ESPN so they will get new broadcast deal promising more events in USA. And getting rid of debt. Looking good for PFL if they get re-signed to another broadcast deal with ESPN. Quote
jimufctna24 Posted March 21 Posted March 21 (edited) I watched the entire show, the first PFL show I have ever watched in its entirety. It really is Scott Coker's Bellator with a different logo, lighting and commentary team. Heck, the current PFL Champions are largely who I would have expected the Bellator Champions to now be had the merger not gone through. My view on the PFL is also very similar to how I viewed Bellator, in that they do have some world-class fighters, with Nemkov and Usman probably being the standouts (I haven't seen enough of Kuramagomedov or Khizriev recent fights), but it's not a league that you absolutely have to watch. If it remains on a FTA platform, I will probably watch most of their shows if I'm not busy, but if they go behind a paywall I will probably just stream the most important stuff.
