Porkchopcash
Big Nikoli Volkoff in The Million Dollar faction around 95. He was shite 10 years earlier. Has he ever been good? Always looked shite to me. I remember Jesse always used to say how strong he was to try and get him over but he has always been terrible from 85 onwards. Ive just finished watching a Bolshavic squash from 88, its horrendous. Zhukoff is probably worse than Nikoli. Have to be the worst tag team ever. Paid Members PunkStep Posted June 14, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 14, 2015 I've always wondered that, he was about as intimidating as a pigeon when representing the commies during WWE's cold war. At least the Koloff's looked mental. Volkoff just looked shit. Â The one thing I liked in his Million Dollar Corporation run is having the cent symbol on his back and being shat on by Dibiase at any given opportunity. Paid Members Carbomb Posted June 14, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 14, 2015 Would Ted DiBiase Jr. fit this thread? Outside of his very early promise and run in Legacy (in which he had a couple of great tag matches and a briefly hot angle), he seemed to just completely fade and draw nothing but apathy, even when given one of the hottest valets ever in Maryse, a remembered bodyguard in Virgil, and the Million Dollar belt. Liam O'Rourke
"He's got a suit for every day of the week, and there it is", on the subject of Nikolai is one of Lawler's better lines during that period. Â Echo that though, even watching 84 Mid-South he blows and is just there for the easy heat.
kickin it wit the kliq
Manu, definitely Manu he looked lost every time he was on screen. Â An honourable mention has to go to Dan Severn's 98 run in the WWF, jayyyyysuuussss, he was dreadful, yet somehow managed a PPV match against the Rock
Paid Members FLips Posted June 14, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 14, 2015 I really liked Dan Severn! Looked like a hard bastard, not shocking in the ring.

He had reason to be where he was and had a half decent run with Cody. Not really a useless bastard.
Sphinx
Kenzo Suzuki was laughable to me. Had a shit tag team with Rene Dupree too.

Jackpot
 a remembered bodyguard in Virgil  His stint as Vincent in the nWo was useless. The whole nWo storyline wouldn't have been any different without Vincent/Virgil.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted June 14, 2015 Author Paid Members Share Posted June 14, 2015 They couldnt get Charles Wright, so they got Virgil instead. The whole idea was to have a big bruiser as the nWo's security. Which would have been the Godfather, who looked like a hardcase. And when they couldnt get him (I think he was still under a WWF deal), they just got Virgil and the role changed from hardcase to calling him "Vincent" as a pisstake on the WWF calling him Dusty Rhodes name in the 80s. The Godfather in the nWo might have been pretty cool.

Could just see Kevin Nash coming out of the long black limo, cigar in his mouth, bottle of champagne in one hand and flanked by two of the Godfather's hoe's.  If the original plan though was to go for a security type figure, couldn't they have just used Bossman in that sort of role rather than the whole disappointing Ray Traylor is in the nWo, then he's out, feuding with them then ending up back in the WWF? Or alternatively, some other big bastard like Earthquake if all he had to do was stand there looking menacing.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted June 15, 2015 Author Paid Members Share Posted June 15, 2015 So basically his role was meant to just be a useless bastard? They knew what they were getting with Virgil. His role in life is a useless bastard. The role was meant to be bigger, so when the original guy fell through they just put the cheaper option in there. This happened a lot in the nWo. They promised a debut, fell into trouble and had to go with whoever was available. Davey Boy Smith had agreed to sign with WCW and they had Ted Dibiase promise a 5th member of the nWo for the following week. So when WWF gave the Bulldog more money, WCW just made the Giant the 5th member. Even though the Giant was always going to be their big babyface, thus having to turn him again a few months later. Â If the original plan though was to go for a security type figure, couldn't they have just used Bossman in that sort of role rather than the whole disappointing Ray Traylor is in the nWo, then he's out, feuding with them then ending up back in the WWF? Or alternatively, some other big bastard like Earthquake if all he had to do was stand there looking menacing. They wanted to do a shit joke with "where's Vince?" and out comes Virgil as Vincent for his debut. Because Vince McMahon called him Virgil as a piss take off Dusty's real name, so Bischoff called him Vincent to mock Vince McMahon. I'm 90% certain that's the only reason Virgil was brought in. Paid Members WWFChilli Posted June 15, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 15, 2015 I remember sitting across from Godfather while he was interviewed for a magazine piece (might have been Power Slam) at PCW. He mentioned he was negotiating a deal to come in and apparently Virgil was so desperate to come in, he lowballed himself and Wright's offer. During 96-97 Wright was back running clubs in Vegas.
