The league is divided into two conferences, East and West (they do also divided them further into divisions, but I don't know why as they don't mean anything). The conferences are sorted by the teams win/loss record. You play teams from your own conference 5 times and the teams from the other conference 2 times during the regular season. The top 6 teams from each conference go into the Playoffs. Teams 7-10 go into the Play Ins, which is a mini tournament, which two teams from each conference will advance from the to actual Playoffs. 

The Playoffs themselves are a tournament where each round is a best of 7 series. The winners of the East side and West side then play each other to win the Championship, it's also a best of 7 series.

There are too many games.

Watching LeBron get 42, 17 and 8 this morning  helping the Lakers beat the Warriors was a delight. He's playing so well this season and to think he is doing this at the age of 40 is mind blowing. Now with Luka Doncic joining up with him and looking like he will make his Lakers debut on Monday as coming back from a calf injury, watching those two together will be must see TV.

Some Clippers stats for this, strange lopsided season. 

After last night they're now the only team in NBA history to move above a .500 record (winning more games than you've lost) after falling at least 15 games below .500 during the same season. 

They won 153-128 last night against the Timberwovles, equalling their scoring record for a game in normal time. 

Kawhi Leonard scored 45 points, his fifth 40+ scoring game this season, equalling the team record. He's also scored 20+ points in consecutive 43 games, one game away from tying the team record. 

So they're on a bit of a hot streak, in classic Clippers fashion, way too late to realistically make a big difference. I think they'll make the playoffs, and Kawhi is in insane form, but you'd be mad not to expect an injury just around the corner, as much as I pray that doesn't happen.

Didn't even realise the Knicks were in the finals, bit apparently they've won 12 play off games in a row and are 1 up after game 1 away at Spurs!

First title since 1973 which is mental, but I suppose they were up against the Celtics/Pistons in the 80s, the Bulls in the 90s and then whoever else has been good in the Eastern Conference after that (Miami I assume won quite a fair few, I'm a very casual observer)

But what a win that would be.

I hope the Spurs win because Knicks fans seem to think they're owed the championship. And I like Wemby a lot.

I love an underdog story and I'd like to see the Knicks do it on that alone, and Jalen Brunson deserves it as well he's been a star. 

Wemby is some player though as well, but in general I'd like to see the Knicks get the job done, I'd say Spurs are likely to win but I'm hoping there's parties all over New York, some feeling that would be after not winning since '73.

Agreed on this, even from afar they seem like a massively entitled fanbase, and just because they're an iconic name and team doesn't mean they deserve anything. 

I was amazed to find out they have only ever won it twice though, but like I said, others have really dominated the Eastern.

The Knicks came back from 29 points behind, the biggest in finals history, to go 3-1 up with the next game at MSG.

They may not even make it back to MSG as game 5 on Saturday night is in Texas. I can't believe what San Antonio were doing last night, no game management when far ahead, doing silly things and even in the last 12 seconds when they still had it completely in their hands, fumbling it to sum up that last quarter and a half. Hopefully they can recover mentally, win game 5 and at least put it on New York to win it in front of their own fans at MSG in game 6.

Ah wasn't aware of that! I don't think that will quell the celebrations in the city though.

Yeah to blow a 29 point lead in a finals is pretty unforgiveable.

Also nice to see Taylor Swift front row and boiling piss again. First the NFL fans, now the NBA fans. Lovely stuff.

An iconic name that’s underachieved for so long, similar to Liverpool going so long without winning the League. Aside from the NBA Cup last year, which let’s be honest means fucks all as it’s still pretty new, they’ve had nothing this century, and the majority of the fanbase probably weren’t even alive the last time they won the title. To be one win away from winning it all, which for a team that at one time had Derrick Rose AND Camello Anthony in the squad and still didn’t get a sniff of winning anything, is exciting times. I do t disagree that there is an air of entitlement there, but this is the closest they’ve come in a long long time, people will get carried away.

And come on, overturning a 29 point deficit to go within one win of the title? Thats the beauty of sport right there
