I caught Mills vs Marshman, was a cracker.

Manhoef vs Marshall, the over/under on that lasting a round...I mean, I just can't envision Jade Bryce having to get off her lovely arse in this one. It's not going a round, surely. Maybe not a minute, I think your 47 seconds might be about right. It's one of them fights where I can just see them colliding and one of them just dropping. It's just got the feel that one of them is going night-night on the first exchange for me.

Which probably means it'll go three rou...nah fuck it, it won't will it? Heart says Manhoef, head says Marshall. It's pretty much a coin flip though.

Viewer are you ready? Viewer are you ready? Let's watch Bellator 125

Martin Stapleton (148.9lbs, 13-3) vs. Goiti Yamauchi (146lbs, 17-2) was a totally one-sided affair with Yamauchi quickly taking Stapleton to the mat and just as quickly tying him up in an omaplata; Stapleton defended well and managed to escape it, but Yamauchi quickly took top control and transitioned into taking the back of Stapleton and began working for a rear naked choke, which he eventually got, and Stapleton tapped at 4:37.

Javy Ayala (264.6lbs, 7-3) vs. Raphael Butler (257.3lbs 8-0-1) was another quick and one-sided affair; Ayala rushed Butler with a couple of big punches and got him pressed up against the cage. After a couple of punches, Ayala scored a big takedown and quickly got the back of Butler, trapped him in a rear naked choke, and got the tap out at 1:03.

A graphic promoting Eddie Alvarez as ‘Free on Spike’ next Saturday night is shown, which presumably is a special that will show Alvarez losing to Michael Chandler.

We’ve got time to spare so it’s off the prelims with Julio Cesar (146lbs, 29-0) vs. Poppies Martinez (145.6lbs, 29-10) and it should be noted that Cesar is 20-years-old. Not a lot happened for the first minute and then Cesar landed a spin kick to the chest of Martinez that floored him. Cesar went for some ground and pound and did well until Martinez scrambled for a leg and Cesar backed off. Cesar then went for a flying knee but ended up shoving Martinez to the ground, but it set up some ground and pound and Cesar got the win by TKO in 2:16.

Daniel Cormier, Luke Rockhold and Josh Koscheck are shown at ringside and they appear to be quite buzzed.

Rafael Carvalho (186lbs, 9-1) vs. Brian Rogers (185.6, 11-6) was a total slugfest that never came close to going to the ground. Rogers dominated for the first three minutes, pretty much picking Carvalho apart. Then Carvalho started firing back and he clipped Rogers and had him trapped against the cage; Rogers ended up on his hands and feet, so he was staying up, but he was taking shot after shot and neither defending himself nor moving to escape, so the referee stepped in and called the fight off. Rogers protested but we’ve seen time and time again in MMA that merely being able to take heavy shots is not good enough; you have to be defending yourself and simply letting yourself absorb the shots, even if you can, doesn’t count.

We’re back to an earlier preliminary fight but we join it half way into the first round and there is nothing to identify either fighter; one is somewhat tanned and in green shorts, one is very white and in white shorts. The guy in green shorts dominated and won in the second round by TKO with ground and pound.

Melvin Manhoef (186lbs, 28-11-1) vs. Doug Marshall (185.7lbs, 18-7) was our main event and it promised to be slugfest and it was while it lasted. Manhoef and Marshal traded bombs but Manhoef was hitting harder and he also delivered some stinging leg kicks. After three leg kicks, Manhoef cracked Marshal behind the ear with a powerful right hand and Marshal did the Flair Flop; his legs went out and Marshal was face down on the mat and it was all over.

Not a great card in the traditional sense but the main fights went by quickly and had good or great finishes, which made it entertaining card to watch.

Just watched Manhoef vs Marshall.

:)

Shlemenko vs Manhoef is going to be nuts. Neither guy is any great shakes on the ground so they'll both be coming with the same idea. To behead the other fucker as quickly as possible.

Any word on when Paul Daley make his re-debut in Bellator, and who he might fight?

Anyone been to a Bamma event before thinking of going to the next one if Freakshow is back, are the crowd okay or are there dickheads about? I've only seen UFC a few times they've been over.

The crowds are very boisterous but they're usually not too bad, unless you have the misfortune to be sat in front of some dickheads who won't shut the fuck up. Fortunately, people like that are the exception to the rule.

Che Mills vs. Jack Marshman was good but I wasn't blown away. Lewis Long vs. Steve DInsdale, however, was a fantastic brawl. Really worth going out of your way to see.

Dunno if you got some kind of edited feed? but i got the introductions, that was the Bellator debut of Chris Honeycutt, one of the top prospects in the sport. He was fighting UFC vet, Aaron Wilkinson (who's British), it was an incredibly impressive debut. Honeycutt looks like a fucking tank at 170, his takedowns and ground and pound were ridiculous...Wilkinson was simply beaten up, this was a mugging.

Chris%2BHoneycutt%2BSlams%2Band%2BFinish

Keep an eye on this guy.

Bellator's show was great fun, no real classic fights but it delivered impressive performances in every fight. Bellator's whole roster is filled with such crowd pleasing fighters, there's rarely a dull show.

Julio Ceser (30-0 at 20 years old!) looks like a real prospect despite the questionable record, he blew away a well respected opponent.

Javy Ayala is one of Bellator's better heavyweight prospects, he continues to upset the odds.

Goiti Yamauchi is another legit prospect, very impressive and again young as shit.

Rafael Carvalho is a great addition to 185, composed under pressure but aggressive at the same time, i liked what i saw. Brian Rogers too remains a must see fighter win or lose, he always throws donwn.

Manheof/Marshall was as advertised...the only downside was that the KO wasn't the show stopper i'd hoped for, looked it originally but it was a slight clipping shot behind the head, it fucked up Doug Marshall regardless. Praying Schlemenko getst through his title shot this friday, the Manheof fight must happen.

well considering the best show of the year is happening tomomorrow night i guess there's not much interest in this week's Bellator, it'll serve as a nice little warm up though to the big one:

hnAVlRc.jpg

Main Card: (Spike TV – 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT)
Alexander Shlemenko (50-8) vs. Brandon Halsey (7-0)
Patricky Pitbull (13-5) vs. Marcin Held (19-3)
Thiago Meller (19-5) vs. Bubba Jenkins (6-1)
Mike Richman (15-6) vs. Ed West (18-8)

main card is good shit, always look forward to seeing Schlemenko fight of course, he's fighting a raw, powerhouse in Halsey though, im sniffing an upset.

Marcin Held/Pitbull is a great co-main, i love watching Held fight, he's one of those rare throwback fighters that really specialises in one area (submissions), yet makes it work so well, when a fight hits the ground you just expect it to end... he's the european Shinya Aoki.

Get on it...

I didn't even know this was happening but that does look good. I don't remember if I've seen Halsey before but I love a bit of Shlemenko and I'm interested to see how he rebounds from the Tito loss. I really, really, really want to see Shlemenko vs Manhoef as well so hopefully he wins.

Pitbull vs Held is going to be a hell of a fight. Can't go wrong with that. I think that'll be a fun clash of styles.

Ebb, you seen that James Thompson is going to fight Houston Alexander on an upcoming Bellator? I saw the poster on twitter the other day. That sounds like a proper Pride fight.

I want to see another highlight reel KO from Ed West. Bellator looks like another fun show; I'll watch that and try and catch Jason Brilz vs. Vinny Magalhães from the Titan FC show. With those two plus Legacy FC 35, there is plenty to keep you busy until UFC 178, Josh Tompson vs. Houston Alexander is classic PRIDE-style booking; I'll pick Thompson because he at least has something on the ground, albeit not much, which is better than Alexander who has nothing on the ground. Houston has a great backstory, which only makes it more disappointing that he never achieved much in the way of serious success.
